A little gem so lucky to have found this beautiful site all pitches fully serviced and flat concrete hard standing. Easy access to Harrogate on the new electric buses and fantastic cycle paths. Special thanks to the owners who were so welcoming and friendly and passionate about their guests having a wonderful time. The facilities were a very welcome surprise from the norm, beautifully appointed and very luxurious I would say hotel standard. Thank you from two extremely satisfied guests we will look forward to a return visit.
My parents stayed here and were very disappointed. This is their review: The information online is misleading and makes it seems as though the campsite is near a lake - it is miles away and not within walkable distance. There are no amenities on the campsite and the owners only seemed to care about money - the first thing we asked was if we were paying in cash. After staying there for 2 nights, as we were leaving the owner informed us that there was a 2 dog maximum. I had booked via phone and this was not communicated at all - they had also seen the dogs before this. We go camping bi-weekly, and this was our worst experience. We have been turned away for having more than 2 dogs before - we are well aware that campsites have these rules, and we always ask before coming because we are respectful of other campers. This campsite did not communicate this at all even after we asked - until we were leaving, and we were spoken to in the most unfriendly manner. Our dogs are very quiet - they didn’t bark whilst on the campsite, we didn’t walk them around the campsite - as I said we are respectful of other campers. On top of this, there was no sense of community at this campsite as there has been at others - part of what we enjoy about camping is speaking to other campers and making friends - occasionally sharing a bbq! That community was nonexistent here, and it isn’t hard to imagine why.
Very disappointed, as soon as we arrived the owner approached us wanting us to pay straight away for the pitch, was not at all friendly. There was a flood in the toilets, which had been left, also showers were cold. The owner approached us before leaving to come home, and stated your only allowed 2 dogs, which I had more than 2, she spoke with such an attitude, as I’d clearly looked on the website and did not see that it was only 2 dogs allowed, also when I rang and spoke to her I asked if dogs were allowed and there was no mention at the time of only allowing 2 dogs. I was very disappointed, as tge website also has pictures of river walks nearby and also other facilities, which is why I booked this site, but they were literally miles away, so never got to see any of it. I go camping every weekend, and this is one site I will never be returning back to, utterly disappointed in it.
Really nice campsite with handy links to cycle paths to all the surrounding areas, including Harrogate, you can walk but it takes a bit of time. Great "proper pub" just down the road- the Gardeners Arms. Steve the campsite manager couldn't be more helpful. Once the new shower facilities are opened this will be a very nice site indeed. Good places around to walk the dog too.
Lovely quiet site, friendly and helpful site wardens/owners. Clean toilet areas and good warm showers. My only gripe was shower only lasted 7 seconds and you had to push button again but hopefully new shower block they are building will be different. Great cycling tracks right outside the campsite, would definitely go back.
Very nice site. And friendly staff.new shower block and toilets .you need to take bikes as from site on cycle track you can be in knaresbourer in 20 mins off road ideal for family's it's safe
Excellent clean modern facilities, great location for bike routes enjoyed every minute lovely friendly owners would definitely look forward to coming again.
This is a very difficult review to write because this site is so good you don’t want people to read your review and make it so busy we can’t book again. This site is perfect for us because it’s a very quiet site. It’s perfect for walkers and cyclists be use you step out of the site straight on to a footpath cycleway. You can walk or cycle to just about anywhere from hear. Harrogate, Ripley,Knersborough and from there there are hundreds of cycle routes and footpaths in all directions. Friendly helpful staff and such a great quiet site. Hopefully the Dog Hotel across the road will take day boarding dogs again at some point and then you can even leave your dog for the great Yorkshire Show or to cycle further. One of the best sites we have been on for relaxing and walking and cycling. We have already re booked.
The site was very clean and well maintained. Lovely staff and the new facilities were fantastic
Just returned from a week at Bilton Park, wow what can I say? 5 star toilet/shower block. Immaculate site. Special thanks to Steve and Janet who manage the park, very helpful and also for putting on a lovely jubilee afternoon tea for everyone. Do not miss this 5 star park. The location is also perfect for walkers and dogs, getting to either Harrogate or Knaresborough.
