Very Dog friendly, with excellent food and helpful attentive staff, overall we had an excellent experience, we even went back for breakfast. The salted caramel sweet was particularly good as was the gluten free chocolate brownie. Bill's is a very good chain well worth a try.
Great restaurant! Today, January 30, 2022, we were in a company of 4 people and everyone ordered different dishes. A rare case: in this restaurant we all liked all 4 dishes. We ordered the following dishes: steak with egg and chips, smoked salmon and shrimp pie with mashed potatoes and cheese, chicken skewers and a burger with chips. In my opinion everything was very tasty. I'm quite picky about the quality of food, but I take my hat off to this restaurant. I strongly recommend: go there to eat, you will not regret it. And I also want to say about the work of the staff: beyond praise! Everything was cooked in 15 minutes, different workers were interested in how we liked it, is everything in order with us? We enjoyed dining there very much. Recommend!
Loved it. We visited Bills on a Sunday morning, we were greeted by the staff and got given a choice of where to sit. The staff were so friendly and when we asked to not have black pudding does anyone eat that? The waited told us he's happy to swap it for more bacon or anything else. We didn't expect that as most places remove things but charge full price so we were happy to be given the option to swap. The food was delicious and really well presented. I mean just look at the photo! Well worth the money, great overall experience. The only thing I'd say is I wasn't a fan of sour dough bread, as I found it really tough to cut or eat but other than that its flawless.
Had a lovely brunch here on Sunday. They were very busy so the service was a little slow but we had a friendly welcome. All the food was excellent and delivered hot and tasty. Seeds on the eggs are a nice touch. The toilets were clean, right at the back of the restaurant. No masks in sight but anti bac gel on the tables. The golden latte was pretty but just tastes of warm coconut milk.
Visited York for the day using their brilliant Park and Ride from the designer retail park. Wife decided we we’re having breakfast at Bill’s. We were there quite early and got seated in no time. Staff were great and the place was clean and room to move about. The Breakfast menu is OK, not much choice. I’d have preferred a Sausage and bacon bun, but chose the Full English. The breakfast came in a decent time, but I thought it was quite disappointing. I asked for my eggs well done, but were runny in the middle. The sausage was hard and dry , bacon covered in oil and there wasn’t much on the plate. Our Grandaughter got pancakes , ordered with no syrup, it came soaked in syrup. The 12% service charge added to the bill is a pet hate of mine. A tip is a tip, a service charge is essentially paying to get your food. I won’t be going back. Expensive for what’s on the plate. Quality of food was great, but not cooked very well. There’s far better in York, the pubs are far better at Breakfasts than this place.
Great place, we actually wanted to try somewhere else just visiting York for one night and day but there were queues at other cafes. I had Bill's Big Breakfast or something like that. It was very good. 2 eggs, nice toast, streaky bacon, 1 sausage would have preferred 2 but there you go, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans, potatoes, black pudding. Staff were really good, friendly and quick turnaround, it was maybe half full. We went at 11am, just too early for the brunch menu but we were happy with what we ordered. I had an early grey and a glass of orange juice, both really nice. Would deffo go back to a Bill's to check out more of the menu. Price wise, we got 2 of the larger options to eat and 2 drinks each so was 40 quid which actually we were happy to pay in the centre of York for the quality and speed of the service. Vegetarian options: My girlfriend had a vegetarian breakfast Garden Plate and really enjoyed it. Also added vegan bacon. Generally it was potato, 2 poached eggs, toast, tomatoes, mushrooms, avocado, halloumi
Waited to be seated but service when sat was quick. The waitress that served us was particularly nice and polite to us. Food was good for adult but child portion was really small. 3 very small chicken bites and fries for the buttermilk chicken option. Most restaurants offer a small and big kids option but Bill's don't. Pancakes they have on offer for kids throughout the summer was definitely more substantial. Overall nice atmosphere and good service just lacking in portion sizes for children.
It’s always relaxed and buzzy. Friendly and attentive service. Mains took 30 minutes to arrive though. Oat flat whites were pants - send the barista for reeducation! Veggie burgers were excellent although the fries were overcooked and dry. They were happy accommodating baby and small pram.
Beautiful place and lovely staff. We had burgers, they were ok, a bit pricey I thought for what they were. A service charge is added to the bill, while the service charge is optional, it was not mentioned at all or made obvious, just indicated on the menu in rather small prints.
A lovely summer dining experience. I went for the 2 course option and was very impressed: garlic butter minute steak with rosemary fries tingled the taste buds, and an apple pie sundae left a refreshing zing in my mouth. The staff were friendly and offered great suggestions on food and drink. Would definitely come again!
