I don’t normally write reviews, but felt that the staff warranted a five star review at this hotel. They were warm, friendly, and welcoming. They couldn’t do enough to make your stay an excellent experience. Thank you! We stayed four nights. Also worth mentioning was the bar food we didn’t eat in restaurant so I can review that. The bar food was hot, tasty, filling and affordable - the wine was affordable too Finally the cleanliness of the rooms and hotel was great thank you and we will be staying again next year. Rooms: Clean and comfy. Replenished daily with bottled water and biscuits as well as usual tea and coffee etc. Food & drinks: Loved the bar food didn’t eat in restaurant so can’t comment on this. Wine was affordable too xx Noteworthy details: Beautiful grounds for walks. I walked into village as well. WiFi was excellent - I had to work from hotel one day and had no issues!
Terrible rooms, windows banging in the wind so unable to sleep! Breakfast room had holes in the door allowing rats and mice in.. dusty and very old fashioned but mostly needed a good dusting and cleaning! No lifts and had to walk up a lot of stairs with luggage with no help. Heavy doors and will not be good for some customers!Rooms: 1/5
Thank you Bestwood Lodge for pulling off the best day of our life. We got married here recently and we have been planning this for almost 2 years with Bestwood Lodge and I must say all my appointments were very attentive and helpful. Brent and the team understood the assignments and I know I very demanding at time but nothing was too much for him and I could trust him to delivery and plan our day smoothly. All our guests have said how perfect and smooth the day was, from the checking into the rooms as most of our guests were staying in the hotel. Rooms were ready early for people to get change before the ceremony in the chapel at 2pm. My husband’s mother was booked into one of the new accessible room which are very nice and spacious and close to the Chapel. The music in the ceremony was spot on. Even though I left my usb with songs at home. Brenton quickly downloaded the songs on his phone and saved the day. The flowers and the decorations in the ballroom was amazing and the room was layout just as we wanted it. Some of our guests were fussy eaters but all the courses were 5 star quality and the presentation of the canapés and variety in the buffet. The food was definitely a highlight. I must mention that all the bar staff on the day worked really well and service was with a smile and keeping the bar stock. Thank you bestwood lodge for making our wedding special and i am sure some of our friends will be using your venue again. We have already booked to stay again in the accessible room for our anniversary. I also would like to mention Housekeeping team thank you for waiting around and sort our room out the first night and for all our weird requests x
This is not your cube, within a cube hotel. This Victorian building has character. The staff are exceptional, making the place. The dining is good and again the staff are exceptional in this regard too. If you want to experience a "Country House" experience, in an urban setting, this is what Bestwood Lodge offers the guest. Rooms: Basic amenities, for example no refrigerator in our room. they are none the less comfortable and quiet Food & drinks: The Restaurant is a feature of this establishment.
Very comfortable overnight stay and pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to the Nell Gwyn room as it was our anniversary. Lovely bathroom and peaceful quiet room overlooking the garden and terrace. Excellent customer service especially from Declan who obviously loved working there. Lots of choice for breakfast which was very nice. Good location for a city break. Approx 10 to 20 mins drive and reasonable charges on the car park for checking out all the Nottingham attractions. Well done
From arriving we was greeted by a friendly wecoming receptionist and that continued throughout our stay with all the staff. Lovely old building. Beer prices eere reasonable. Breakfast was fantastic. A nice relaxing place to stay. I feel like we did not pay enough for the stay. Great value. Thank you so much. See you againRooms: 4/5
When I booked the picture of the room looked great twin room. When myself and my daughter arrived we spoke to a gentleman. Real kind and friendly. I explained I have arthritis and struggle with stairs, he said he would see what he could do, we were given room 35, as we walked through it looked great and grandure. Then it changed step stairs and going into what I could only describe as ewwwww. We went into the room and was less than happy. Smell of musky, walls dirty, floor dirty, bug in bathroom. I was going to go down but as the stairs I couldn't as it took everything to get up there. Small shower, beds were OK. Was told it's an 150 year old hunting lodge, and I felt the room was for servants back in the day. Rooms: Avoid room 35 Safety: After the 1st floor it goes downhill after that
Attended a wedding here and was pleasantly surprised. This is a hidden away gem with lots of character and plenty of room for a small to medium sized wedding.Location: 5/5
Really enjoyed my 3 weeks or so at the Bestwood Lodge. Staff made my stay. Food is excellent, and grounds are lovely. I would say that there isn't much to do around the area. No Sky sports, etc, in the bar. But as it's an old building, the decore is ace. It is hunted and is renowned for it, which is great. I named my ghost Sharon. Rooms: Very roomy. Comfy bed Food & drinks: Really, top class food. Good variety of drinks too.
Had a great break in the Duke room, the manager Declan and his staff went out of there way to make our stay perfect. So much history in one building. Only criticism I had was the 1 legged iron board but that might be the way you Northerners iron Rooms: Good sized room with a large bath Food & drinks: Both bar and restaurant food was fab
