Nice, family friendly restaurant. Good service, good value for good food. We ordered 1 starter and 3 mains, plus 1 alcoholic drink and 1 juice for £62.
I called in for a pint after a walk around the Tees Barrage. A very popular pub next to the Premier Inn and a CC and Motorhome site and over looking the barrage. Lots of outdoor seating with a bar shack outside too. Also a children's play area. Only issue I could see in the short time I was there was that a few of the tables hadn't been cleared, maybe because it was busy or maybe because they are short staffed. A decent family pub, that constantly needs cleaning up.
To start with staff avoided wanting to serve us despite eye contact. Food not delivered together. Soggy chips in one steak meal sent back, which did come back perfect. Grilled salmon was cooked well but the salad was non existent. Toilet seats broken, flush not working and floor full of tissues. Dirty. Tables not clean either. Come on Beefeater, it’s not rocket science!
Pre booking in advance is recommended. Great views to the river. Tables outside and inside as well. They have extended menu such as breakfast, starters, sides, burgers, grill, fish and chips, desserts and steaks... Fast and friendly service. You won't be disappointed. Good quality /price.
Myself, my husband, our children and some family members visited here for our wedding meal. The food was lovely and the service was great. Our waitress asked if there was a special occasion or if we were just there for a nice meal. We told her that we had just got married and she congratulated us which was really kind. Then unexpectedly she came over with a tray with a bottle of Prosecco in a ice bucket with glasses for our special occasion from the staff wishing us well! This was totally unexpected but it was a really lovely gesture. I wish we could remember her name so we could pass on our thanks! Kid-friendliness: Great family pub with great play area outside for warmer weather. Parking: Lots of parking spaces available
Came here for breakfast as we were staying at the Premier Hotel. Bit of a disappointment. The hit food was lovely and plenty of it, spoke with the breakfast chef who was very nice. The table we sat at was sticky could have done with a clean cloth wipe, the carpet was covered in food from the previous evening. The long table with the cold drinks, toaster, cereals etc was dripping wet with spilt drinks, the usual appliance to toast had broke so an ordinary toaster was being used but didn't toast at all. Couldn't find the tea making facilities! and there was no on to ask. Spoke to some of the staff and found out they were under staffed due to covid. They spoke highly of their restaurant manager who was obviously over worked. At £9.50 ahead for breakfast, this is something that needs to be addressed by the owners asap!
The Talpore offers a continental as well as a standard breakfast offer where you can select from a massive range of options. There was suitable social distancing and helpful service. You are not rushed from your seats which is a nice change in the current situation.
The food is mediocre, there's not a lot of vegetarian options and the veg in the roasted vegetable linguine did not taste great or fresh to be honest. The Vegetarian options just keep on lacking. They scrapped the chilli non carne and now only have cannelloni and a vegan burger. I get that its a steakhouse but alienating a whole group of people is a bit silly
Lovely big pub, nice food we got burgers and the kids menu had a great selection rather than the usual boring choices they get. Friendly staff too. Only downside is that it’s quite expensive for pub food, we went with 40% off and it worked out about the same price as most other pubs. Would visit again though, hopefully with another discount code!!
Food was fairly expensive but fortunately we had a voucher which made things more affordable. The menu was depleted with many of the items having run out, typically steaks. We waited 35 minutes for the food to arrive and it was lukewarm. May have been sat on a hot plate for a whilst awaiting waiting staff to serve? There was a help yourself condiments/cutlery table. The cutlery was dirty.
