Ideal place to visit on a rainy afternoon. Loved the introduction by one of the guides, couldn't have been more enthusiastic! Great that most of the cells has something to look at. Good information boards which bought the various aspects of the gaol to life. Amazing ideals that the Victorian officers tried to install on the prisoners. Very worth a visit. Lost a star due to early closing and slightly expensive. Very cold in there as well!
It's OK but for the price of admission it was somewhat disappointing. Some kind of staff presence telling the history or even audio recording would have been good. Although there was written historyWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Was a interesting place that proves we live in a better times. The crimes that you could be sent to jail for and the conditions. Well anyone who ends up in jail in this century has ie easily. Please note that if you go to the courthouse first you can get a combined ticket which is cheaper. Than the price you will pay to visit them both. As we found to our dismay.

Today as a local family of five 11-55 years we visited Beaumaris Gaol and Court. We were greeted beautifully and introduced to our host Roger "The Governor". Roger was just amazing, his knowledge of the history of the place was incredible and his storytelling was captivating. It is obvious that Roger has really taken time to research the archives thoroughly and with great passion to put it all together so brilliantly. Some of the rooms were very eerie I wouldn't like to go there after dark! Particularly creepy was the mysterious rocking cradle. We loved our tour and now have a greater understanding of our local history. Fantastic place to visit, very highly recommended by the Roebucks Family Thank you to the staff and particularly to Roger "The Governor" xxx
Extremely interesting and informative. Roger, who is around to show you about, if you want him to, has a wealth of knowledge about the gaol and of the history of prisons generally. He's not overpowering and extremely courteous and friendly as are all the staff. Much more to the visit than you would probably first imagine from outside. Well worth the entrance fee. Incidentally two of our grandchildren accompanied us 7 and 10 and enjoyed the visit too.
