I stopped here for dinner while I was waiting for a train from Bristol, and I was pleased with the service and quality of food. It’s a very normal chain-style pub, and I was surprised there was no chicken on the set Sunday roast menu, but not a problem. I ordered the ‘duo of roast’ - beef, turkey, pigs in blankets, veg, potatoes, and stuffing. It was spot on, and the gravy was flavourful and rich. Just minutes after I ordered, via the website so I didn’t have to leave my bags, my drink arrived to my table, and I only had to wait 5-10 minutes for the meal, not long at all! Once I finished, I decided to get dessert as I had time given the fast service, and it arrived just as quickly. I will say, I ordered the brownie & ice cream for dessert as it was small, but it was advertised as coming with a tea or coffee - however there was no way of choosing tea or coffee on the website, and it arrived in under 10 mins, without a hot drink, and the waiter didn’t ask. It wasn’t worth the full £4.99 without the drink, but I had a train to catch so didn’t have time to push for it. The staff did their jobs well, nothing out of the ordinary, they were mostly teenagers made to work on a bank holiday Sunday, so it’s probably to be expected. It was still good service, a nice place, which I definitely recommend visiting.
Arrived on mother's Day evening for a meal to our reserved table. Straight away we were told No beef and no trio roast. The tiny starters came out after 35 minutes then after asking how much longer, our mains came out a further 45 mins after with cold veg and colder chips. The fish was soggy and we never had a answer back from the waiter if the gravy was vegetarian so 'the mum' had a dry meal. Nobody asked how our meal was so we left very disappointed. Staff were very polite but it doesn't make up for the cold food and service.
I can't comment on the food as I haven't eaten here but a place I always enjoy coming for a drink. The setting opposite the green in Stoke Gifford gives this place quite a village feel. Seating both inside and outside. A good selection of ales, including Timothy Taylor's Landlord. Make sure you register your number plate if you park here - being so close to Bristol Parkway station, I can understand why they need to prevent non-patrons from parking there.
Ordered food, good and came quickly. Ordered dessert which then didn't come with the rest and over half an hour later asked for it to go, only for one of the staff to push past us rudely for blocking the walkway. Otherwise it was OK, shame they're let down by certain members of staff.
Pub cosy and inviting but the kitchen got my food wrong multiple times. The manager Ceres was serving me and she was very apologetic and sincere and got it all sorted out! I would return here despite the food mix ups.
I have used this pub for 38 years and it has never been run so badly , I went in today after several weeks away when I complained to Ember Inns about the service and bad management , sadly nothing has changed, there was one staff on the bar who was left to serve the drinks and food , it was not busy as it was 1 pm on Thursday , we ordered at 1 am two people it took till 2.40 to get our desert . As it was taken to the wrong table , such as shame as this is our village pub. Pauline
I ordered a full English to be delivered, as soon as opened the box I laughed in disappointment, 2 sausage, 2 egg, and bacon, what I laughed at was a half a spoon of baked beans and 1 single mushroom, and I'm thinking. Really just 1 small mushroom. Are you taking the p***
Prawn starter, fish and chip mains and chocolate brownie desert are best choices. Other choices are a bit disappointing. Good value.
Quality little pub. Seems to have had some management issues but the staff seem ready to help and are always friendly
Food was lovely and service polite, a little slow clearing the plates and bringing dessert. Floater coffee was not very nice, very weak and needs to be pouring cream rather than squirts.
