I did a mistake by opening an account with Barclays Bank. Initially I had to start with a basic account as I did not have a permanent job and my income was low. After one month, I got a permanent job and the income was sufficient to upgrade my basic account. But when I approached the bank they said I will have to wait for an year to upgrade the account as my passport was not getting scanned on their device. I asked them if I had any other option rather than waiting for an year to upgrade. They said you can submit your passport to us and we will send it to the regional office for scanning and things could be sorted. And they added a comment that they will not be responsible for any lose or theft of my passport in between the process. I was like how can they say that if they can't take the responsibility and why do they keep that option in front. Really bad experience and they really don't speak realistically. I would never suggest the bank.
