BE AWARE! If you are expecting "premium" facilities to match the "premium" price tag then this health club is not for you. As per other reviews, the site is extremely tired and seriously lacking in investment. Changing rooms - Numerous lockers broken, left unfixed and only half of the hairdryers working. A large number of floor/wall tiles are cracked and some of the ceiling tiles have fallen through. The cleanliness is shocking and the showers themselves leak water through failing pipes. Poolside - Currently 2 out of 3 shows are faulty. Management have advised they're awaiting parts but this has now been weeks. Cleanliness again isn't good and the chance of seeing a cleaner is very slim. The pool was shut for 5 days recently. Gym - This is probably the best part of the site although when a machine does fail it takes a long time to be addressed. Membership/Customer Service - APPALLING. BEWARE! I've just cancelled my membership following the correct process and was then told I owe an extra month as they have a 30 days notice policy. This was never explained and given the facilities are not fit for purpose I don't feel this is fair. Unfortunately the unreasonable staff at Bannatyne don't agree. Do yourself a favour and look at alternative health clubs.
The spa is calm, clean and well laid out. The treatment room was lovely and the whole massage experience was fantastic. All the other facilities were just as good. The only downside was the cafe. The machine didn't provide for decaf or any milk alternatives. Decaf coffee was on offer in the form of instant coffee. No vegan snacks and only one gluten free. Disappointed with the Starbucks offering in this place.
Joined the gym as a treat as it has spa facilities I was hoping I'd use to relax and unwind after a class. I have used the facilities twice as the pool and jacuzzi are cold, changing rooms absolutely manky, and showers so poor I had to rinse the shampoo out of my hair when I got home! The gym was great when I first joined, but now they block out so many machines for "energy saving" reasons even at peak times that it's often a struggle to get on what you need to! The only saving grace stopping this being 1 star is the classes. Don't waste your money thinking you're getting a luxury health club, quite the opposite.....and prices have recently gone up!
Very friendly atmosphere. My husband and I had a warm wax massage and a facial. It was lovely and relaxing in a calming treatment room. There is also a relaxing room to relax whilst awaiting and after your treatment. We then went for a swim, sauna and steam room. Excellent day - thank you.
Had a few disappointments with the overall presentation of the gym in the last few months mainly from a cleanliness point or poor maintenance on small things but today has topped them all, 7 machines turned off to 'conserve energy' when I asked about these I was told they won't be turned on even during peak times. The temp of the pool and jacuzzi have also been turned down... You advertise as a gym with a spa but this is less than substandard with a high membership fee. I'm really disappointed
Save your money and go to your local council gym. You'll get a cleaner gym, changing rooms and warmer sauna. The changing rooms are dirty, showers are cold and leak so they spray everywhere. The floor has hairs and moulting socks. DEFINITELY BRING FLIP FLOPS or you'll get a foot infection. Some of the lockers won't lock, some are damaged and won't even close. Not worth the £42+ per month. As for the gym, half of the machines are "saving power for the environment" even during peak times so it's hard to get treadmills. I moved from Pure gym, thinking I'd treat myself to a nice gym for the price with sauna and jaccuzi.. not knowing that they'd be turned off half of the time and the other half of the time they're turned down so you're shivering in the sauna. I should have gone elsewhere, but I'm locked into a year contract.
No the best experience for a gift. The Massage and facial was lovely tho. But the pool and steam sauna was not good. No cafe as work was been done had to get a berger king. Not healthy they need to up there game. Nice friendly staff.
Came on a spa day through wowcher, have to say I was really disappointed. It really shouldn’t be advertised as a spa day because it’s just a leisure centre with treatments. The pool was murky and the facilities run down, kids swimming lessons taking place just wasn’t relaxing. The photos you see on the advertisement are nothing at all like you get it’s so so basic. The showers don’t work properly they’re freezing cold then go hot then freezing again. It would have been 1* but the facial was nice and the hot beds were ok. Massage wasn’t really a massage it was more a rub down even after I asked for more pressure and our treatment time was supposed to be 45 minutes and we got 35. I will say also, you make it very awkward when you send fully clothed people into the relaxation room before their massage. We were all half naked in our bathing clothes when people were coming in to sit down we all felt very awkward I would suggest using the sofas at the spa reception for people to wait that are fully clothed
Avoid this company, absolutely joke, they are want to extort money, be aware, now I owe 116£ for absolutely nothing, I send message by them website and make call to cancel my membership, lady said it's fine she done it, after month they are want another 57£. To be clear I sign 3 months contract and I don't wanna pay for 4th and 5th month. Second thing is quality of this gym, this is another joke, dirty, drinking water stinks, no lifeguard on pool, sauna on low temperature, broken showers, broken lockers. Just 57£ and you will struggle with cancellation after you fulfill the contract. Good luck
I have injured myself inside the gym, spraied my ankle, because of some plastic thingies being too close to the boxing bag, so then you cannot really move around the bag 360 and hit it. I came to reception, to let them know that those plastic thingies should be moved as this can happen to someone else too. I did not threat or was I mad in any way, I just came to tell them what happened and that it can happen to someone else. A manager came and immediately se kind a off forced me to sign and date an injury form, she was 100% concerned to cover the company rather than tending to the issue. I asked only if those can be moved somewhere else, and she said no, I canceled my membership right there and then. I don't wanna go to a gym where there is unhumaine behavior. Also, there is a trainer that prescribed me an excercise routine there, but whenever he sees me he literally tried as hard as he can to avoid looking at me so I don't ingage in any type of discussion about it, makes you feel like you got some sort of disease or something. For 60£ a month... it's not really an ideal gym. Again, the girls at reception, 10/10, incredible, but there are also some bad things, machines not working, pool dirty, sauna barely heats on...equipment is left out all over the gym floor and can cause accidents.
