I normally write grisly, complaining reviews, but will make an exception for Balance Box, because I believe they are providing a great service. They are a life saver for me during this pandemic and would be great to have at normal times too. I cannot think of anywhere else that can provide such high quality nutritious and actually tasty food which is assisting me with my weight reduction too. I did try another couple of companies but Balance Box is head and shoulders above them. Customer service is one of the most responsive I have come across. Keep up the good work guys!
As someone who tries various companies supplying food boxes I will now pass on my honest review. I used Balance Box for nearly two months, I purchased the vegetarian boxes, I am a very active, I am not a fussy eater and I gained weight through following this meal plan. THE FOOD *Something to bear in mind* - I am vegetarian and I feel that Balance Box makes little effort with their vegetarian recipes BREAKFAST- The breakfasts were my favourite part of using Balance Box. Delicious, refreshing and filling. I looked forward to my breakfast every single day and was only disappointed once when they supplied me with a bone dry, savoury sweetcorn muffin.EW! Luckily this was a one off and, other than that, every single breakfast was a delight. However, you should understand before buying that you will be eating the same breakfast recipes every week. I would give the breakfasts a 4 out of 5. LUNCH - The lunches were good. Not brilliant but good. They are mostly salad style recipes but they are filling and some of them are very nice there is a vegetarian pate to die for. There are, however, a lot which lack flavour and as the recipes are repeated heavily the bad ones WILL come to darken your doorstep again. Out of 5 I would give the lunches a 3. DISMAL DINNER - This is where things went wrong for me; these BLAND dinners were the reason I cancelled my subscription. 90% of the dinner recipes are bland and borderline inedible in my opinion and I am an "eat anything" type girl. I had to heavily salt/garlic salt each one before I could tackle it. On paper they sound good but they really are completely lacklustre. I gave some of my meals to my husband as I was sick of eating the same bland recipes over and over these are also HEAVILY repeated each week and he couldn't even finish them. His words were "I don't want them; your meals are horrible." I'm not sure if Balance Box simply do not make an effort for the vegetarians or if they need to hire a new dinner chef but they have some serious work to do in this area. Unluckily for Balance Box, I have purchased dinner boxes in the past which taste like restaurant quality so I happen to know they should not taste like these do. You may be able to put up with them for a little while as I did but they are not a long term solution unless you want to eat watery sauce on rice with broccoli for the foreseeable future. AVOID THE CREAMY, WHITE CURRY RECIPES AT ALL COSTS. I tried them but learnt very quickly to give them to my dogs. They all have exotic and differing names but it's the exact same sauce every time and it tastes like plain thickened milk with vegetables. Not nice. DELIVERY - is where Balance Box comes in to their own. Their delivery times are amazing and always on time. I would get up from work and there it was every morning without fail. WEIGHT - I did not join Balance Box for this reason but I feel it is best to state that I gained weight with balance box even though I was mostly religious to it. It is not hard to imagine most people doing the same as ANY deviance from the boxes would cause your calories to shoot back up in to the 'weight gain' region. EASE- Despite the recipe issues the boxes really helped me to fit more in to my day. It was lovely having everything prepared for me throughout the day and once I got home from work. The concept is brilliant. If they change and extend their pool of recipes I will be willing to try them again! OVERALL- this product may help you if you struggle with portion sizes and need help with organisation but fussy eaters must avoid at all costs, along with people who love food or cooking. The recipes will do nothing for you and I imagine will lead to eating meals which arent from the boxes and so potential weight gain. The breakfasts are brilliant, the lunches good but the dinners are dismal.
Great service. This is not a cheap option but the service is fantastic. It arrives conveniently during the day. The food is all delicious and varied and you don't feel hungry or lacking in energy once you have been doing it for a couple of days. Day 1 I thought I would die of starvation but this was my body detoxifying from the lack of mince pies. I am losing 0.2 to 0.3kg consistently a day. I would also strongly advise you buy a fitbit and step count at the same time as I think increasing the steps has been a painless way of helping the calorie burn. As many of the meals are so nice and I feel good it is much easier sticking to this.
Have been Struggling for a long time to live an affordable healthy life style that is realistic, practical with a busy schedule and delicious. Balance Box has been the answer and my saving grace. I couldn't recommend it more. I signed up thinking I would lose a few pounds and have now found a new healthy life style and a better way of living. Thank you Balance Box!
“The Balance Box really works for me! As a Personal Trainer I tend to be very busy working every hour of the day so planning food is a real hassle. Balance Box sends everything I need, even two snacks for in-between my meals, with all the nutritional content that keeps me at the top of my game. At the moment I love the Tandoori Salmon with Bombay Cauliflower, the Goat’s Cheese and Pine Kernel Salad for lunch is also a favourite. I am also a long distance runner, working off a lot of calories every day, so I need to make sure that I have enough energy to get me through my runs as well as my work with clients. Balance Box really helped me get a structured meal plan as I’m normally a grab when I can girl. Good food, but some portion sizes are quite small and very inflexible deadlines to adjust delivery. I tried to change a delivery for the following Monday on a Thursday and was told this was absolutely impossible - even though we'd been given the balance box as a gift and therefore didnt know the deadlines. Therefore we're going to waste an entire box, even with 4 days notice!
Have been subscribed to Balance Box for 6 months now and I LOVE IT. I look forward to delivery day every week and the meals never fail to be new and exciting. Yet to try a dish I don't love.
The delivery service needs much thought and improvement. Why delivering between 10pm-6am, when people are sleeping? Waking up in the middle of the night so to have your breakfast?
Love the food. I just wish they didn't package EVERYTHING in plastic! I feel like I'm being good to my body and horrible to the environment.
