Great small country hotel near Bristol. Really nice cosy rooms which come with lovely fluffy robes. Feels very indulgent and relaxing to be there but also nice to be so close to the city.

Wonderful mix of whimsy and tradition... Nice staff and an excellent menu... Showers lack full stall, so floors can get messy

An excellent meal with friends. It got off to a great start with a really nice welcome and excellent drinks in the bar. We had the taster menu which was lovely. The staff were great and special mention must go to Nicos - who went above and beyond to make our evening really outstanding. Backwell House is a truly special place.

Attended a 50th birthday meal here and it was lovely. As a large group we preordered the food which was delicious. I am a coeliac so had asked for gluten free adjustments and Backwell House did not disappoint. A beautiful location and a great atmosphere. My lack of a 5th star is the staff were run ragged. Did an amazing job but maybe there should have been more of them to help as the venue was very busy. Hats off to Nickolas who worked his socks off and was charming.
