Car not cleaned inside, hoovered but not wiped down. Second driver paid for but not accepted - Staff decision if proof of ID is acceptable for second driver. Second driver misplaced their licence but had official paper copy, passport, bank card, utility bill, gov. Licence confirmation and code but staff member insisted plastic licence was needed yet months earlier details were accepted for a second driver over the phone and not physically seen by staff member. Full tank was not a full tank. Pick up had 360 miles of petrol whereas full tank get you 438 miles. I was allowed to sit in the car and wait for my pick-up as it was teaming with rain and the office was closing when I got there, was advised to post the keys in the return key box when leaving
Never have I ever had such a fast check-in for a car rental in my life! It's Sunday morning, and you would expect that things are much slower because of the amount of customer service available, however, Kevin was hands down the fastest and most efficient car rental employee I have ever met. They have a good variety of cars, and I was given what I requested, with no problems or faff whatsoever.
Car hire itself was fine, however be very careful if you are not collecting a car on foot. Unless you follow the airport terminal parking rules to the letter you will get a £100 fine. None of this is made clear by Avis although they are fully aware of the situation.Don't think you can get out of your drop off car anywhere near the rental place, expect to walk down a poorly lite road. If only they had made this clear on the phone when they called instead of just worrying about if they were going to finish work on time.
Got a larger car than ordered with only 1 item of pre-existing damage noted. Upon return the vehicle the agent found 3 other almost invisible scrapes, which I had not seen, nor had I caused. My $180 bill was increased to over $800!! which they took from my card, despite my protests. Buyer Beware!
Hired a car for the first time from budget at Liverpool airport and from start to finish I had 5 star customer service , explained all options to me on phone AND it was IMHO cheap as chips and I took the cover insurance too and I got a cracking c3 1.2 , we travelled to Whitby with my girlfriend and her dog inc his stroller and the car was roomy and more , would definitely recommend budget hire car to all my friends
I've had some bad experiences with car hire places but these guys did well. Had to wait 20 mins when it was freezing for someone to show despite booking in advance but otherwise all good
Pick-up and drop-off was smooth as expected with a giant car hire company. Like the others who posted a bad review, I was surprised by a £284.35 extra charge on my credit card. The rental has been pre-paid based on the quote provided when I booked the car. The explanation given was that the rate during the time of the rental was £575.23 hence they charge my credit card for the difference. This this the first time I rented a car that I already paid for where the rate has changed while I was driving the car. Ongoing dispute with Avis which I am assuming will be a long process. Shame on you Avis for scamming customers.
Booked direct through Avis and used Fast Track Service. Completely stress free car hire. Car great - clean and economical. Great service from start to finish. Booked my own Excess Insurance which reduced cost too.
We hired a Mercedes A class for 10 days. When the car handed to me I realised a small scratch on the front passenger side. I mentioned it to them and they recorded it. When the car was taken back they said there is a small scratch on the front driver side and no other scratches on the front passenger side. It was then when I realised I mentioned the scratch mistakenly on the wrong side since I mainly drive in America and I hired the car after my long stay in America. It was brought to their attention but despite this obvious mistake they still charge my card. Eventhough the common sense tells you that it was recorded wrongly specially when there was no scratch on the front passenger side. The staff n the female manger extremely rude n unhelpful. We are going to complain to their head office about this even take legal action. update: I was contacted by their area manager who promissed to refund the money for so called scratch to the wheels. They promised to make a refund by 19th of Aug 2020. Still I have not received any refunds. When I call them they say that it has not dealt with yet and they would do it in 72 hours. Still by today's date 31st of Aug 2020 nothing has been received. It is an absolulte headache. Very poor service and very unorganised. Will update you as I am not going to give up.
Pros Car was received in good condition and drove well; rental price very good; staff at the rental location were very pleasant and explained the hire process well. Cons No documentation instruction manual for the car in the glove box - made it difficult to find the bonnet release lever to top-up the water/screen wash reservoir with water. Hatchback rear door didn't unlock well with the key fob, kept on sticking, slightly open. Not very easy to find the actual pick-up location - postcode given was just the whole of Liverpool airport. Also, I would have preferred the car to be available closer to my work and home, instead it was 30 miles away so I had to get a taxi to the airport to collect it and a train back after dropping off.
