I’ve been using Aston Matthews for many years - having recommended them to clients as London’s premier supplier of bathroom and kitchen brassware and other quality related goods. They’ve never failed to offer great service no matter if my projects were large or small. Nothing is ever too much trouble. And recently they helped me solve an issue that I wouldn’t have expected anyone to have found the time for. Thanks so much to everyone at Essex Road for their continued excellent service.
I bought an entire new bathroom with Aston Matthew a few years ago and was very happy both with the products and the service. Recently the waste element of the bath developed a fault and when I returned to the shop Steve very kindly found me a replacement plug free of charge. Excellent customer service - thank you Steve !
My wife and originally planned to buy our bathroom supplies for our renovation from an online supplier and popped into Aston Mathews just to compare. We were greeted by Peter who was keen to help us. He listened to our requirements and made really good suggestions that were within our budget. Peter is an absolute gem. He’s gone above and beyond what I’d expect after a sale is completed. We are super happy to have gone to Aston Matthews and the help we’ve received. We’re now planning to do another renovation and will not go anywhere else for our bathroom supplies!
The van driver is reckless. Driving in 2 lanes, not using indicator, blocking off cars so they can’t go past in the other lane.
I've been quite shocked at the quality of item we purchased given the price. We purchased the Alto 3-hole wall mounted basin mixer 190mm spout and taps which was £700 and the Axis 3/4inch dual outlet concealed thermostatic shower valve, which was £1.5k, both in Urbanite bronze. We had them professionally fitted. Almost immediately they started to change colour, like within 2 - 3 hours of being fitted, they had only been wiped clean with water. To be clear, we did not use any cleaning products at all. The effect was not a "living" finish change as described but a blotchy, concentrated loss of colour, to white, underneath the veneer as if the metal itself was blanching. We spoke to the showroom who insisted we had used cleaning products no matter our protestation. We couldn't have these items in the bathroom we had just spent a fortune revamping. The shop were uninterested in investigating despite our videos and pictures. As a compromise we agreed to buy replacements at cost price with the proviso they take back the faulty items, test them and refund us should they find them to be faulty. We duly fitted the new ones, again professionally fitted, no cleaning products used. Whilst the effect hasn't been as immediate, or as widespread as the first set it is happening again, a whitening under the veneer. When we enquired as to the original set, that we believed were going to be tested in some way, the answer was again that "you must have used products", I don't think they tested them at all. In short I would find an alternative to these products. They are incredibly expensive items. The quality is poor, they mark and change colour in a mottled fashion. It has been a very costly experience and not one in which I feel we were supported or listened to by Aston Matthews, Avoid.
Bleu Provence BP in Italy, is a manufacturer and supplier of beautiful bathrooms. Some of its products are promoted as own brand by Aston Matthews UK. BP currently has a 30% promotional offer on all items in its catalogues. I contacted Aston Matthews to see if they could source a tap and price match. Ordering directly from BP by a non VAT registered buyer is not cost effective due to import VAT. Aston Matthews confirmed that they could order the item from Italy. However, they do not pass on any discounts. Contacted just now by BP who warned me that Aston Matthews had contacted them to say that I had posted a negative review because they would not sell me a tap at a discounted price. This is a blatant lie. I have not left any reviews on this business. All my interactions with this business in respect of their price match policy is in writing so there is no ambiguity on context and their position. BP, asked me to remove the review that we have both not seen because it does not exist. I have obviously requested a full and humble apology. Data protection and libel issues aside this is extraordinarily nasty behaviour by Aston Matthews. Other retailers such as Archiproducts, Claybrook, Dyke & Dean, The Water Monopoly, West One Bathrooms etc do not charge more than BP - even when a promotion is not running. Aston Matthews does.
Amazing experience! Deep allowed a lot of time to advise us on the right items. He booked a couple of sessions with us where he spent over 2 hours each helping us choose the most appropriate items. He was very diligent, and extra patient. We changed the order a few times and Deep was always keen to help. I would most definitely recommend Aston Matthews, and Deep in particular. His service is what made all the difference.
I called in a few weeks ago to ask for advice on why my soft close toilet seat was not working. The salesman took time to consider what could be done but we were both at a loss as what to do. He promised to find out and today a very tiny piece of plastic arrived and it has done the trick. What fantastic after sales service. Thank you Aston Matthews.
I had such a great experience with Aston Matthews. I visited the store to look at some fittings and Steve Cook took the time to understand my bathroom layout and suggested a much better configuration than I had originally planned. It shows that online stores & internet research are no replacement for having a shop with knowledgable staff. Everything was delivered on time and, when the bath filler turned out to be the wrong one, AM sent me a replacement within 48 hours in the middle of lockdown. They also replaced two other parts: one where I was being really picky over a blemish to be honest it turned out just to be the patina of the brass and another where my fitters dropped a piece and damaged it. So I can really recommend AM - expensive, yes, but beautiful high quality fittings and excellent customer service.
Although the expected delivery was extended on reflection no fault of Aston Matthews what arrived was absolutely the finest quality of fittings. Chrome trap and tap clearly are in a league of their own. And if you are looking for a non standard size of cloakroom sink, well worth a look. Well done
