Fairly busy but because of the 10 or so basket auto-tills, the 8-10 trolley auto-tills, the scan-as-you-buy auto-tills and the staffed checkouts there was no wait time to check out. Unless you insisted on going through the staffed checkouts. I've never really had to wait here. I do find the place a bit bigger than it needs to be though. It looks like they've had to fit the existing stock range into a massive building that's a bit too big for that stock range. Seems like they've used the extra space just to have megs-wide isles. If you're not a person that plans a shop you could walk miles in there from one end to the other. So here's a tip...if you need several frozen pizzas and a hat, make sure you don't forget one of the pizzas or it'll be a 400m extra walk for you there and back
Went today as this is my local Asda always go to this Asda on a weekly basis. However today my trolley token wouldn’t work and I didn’t have a £1 on me I headed into the store where I approached a member of staff refilling the scan and go scanners of out of a basket older lady with blonde shoulder length hair slim and asked would she be able to help get me a trolley to do my shopping as my token wouldn’t work and I didn’t have a £1 she huffed and didn’t reply with good customer service. She said I can’t do it you’ll have to go to security of which I understand that I told her I went to go to that however their was no one their. Her approach to me and the way she spoke I found very rude. I understand the store is getting very busy on the lead up to Christmas and staff are rushed off their feet however their communication skills with customers shouldn’t change. When the security man returned he was very helpful young lad with ginger hair and got me my trolley to do my shopping great member of staff he was. This happened at around 12:10 at the front of store. 28/11/22
Needed some shopping and pharmacy I am disabled and chose to come here so I could use one of your mobility scooters. Went to customer service to ask for a key to be told after waiting in line for 10 minutes that I didn't need one. Went back to the scooters there were 5 of them tried them all except for 1 that was smashed and had wires hanging out of the steering handle none were working. Spike to security guard and asked if he knew if any were working he said oh you need a key!!he promptly gave me a key and again none if them were working all the batteries were flat. I then went to the pharmacy for my prescription and waited for 20 mins which I understand but there was only 1 chair that someone was already using. After all this I was too weak to go around the store and had to slowly walk back to the car and ask my 88 year old mother to go and just get me the necessaries whilst I recovered. I would not like to have to go through this again I never have a problem at Sainsbury Tesco or Morrison which is a shame as you have more choice. Looks bad for disabled people. This was similar to a few weeks ago when I came shopping in the morning again no mobility scooters Workington time I just left and went to sainsbury.
Never enough staff on checkouts, so essentially forced to use self service tills unless you fancy a long wait ps. this isn't customers preferring this option, it's customers having no other choice. For 5 minutes I waited like a lemon at the crowded service checkout for a member of staff to authorise an alcohol sale today, but two staff were too busy chatting leaving one poor girl trying to do the work of 3 people. Gave up, walked out and left my shopping behind.
1 star because I can't 0 star I am a repeat customer and can honestly say I've never had what could be called good customer service. On occasion the service is passable but more often than not it is poor. I can understand the move to pushing to self scanning but there are either not enough staff manning the sections to deal with security checks or the staff congregate between sections having a chat leaving customers waiting instead of assisting them. Today I have waiting for 6 minutes to approve the alcohol I am buying because the one staff member in my section was busy and there staff from the other sections wouldn't come to help. It feels like Asda are relying on customer apathy to prevent them moving elsewhere. Alongside SportsDirect they are the worst retail experience around. My patience has worn too thin so in the future I will now spend those extra 6 mins I waited for assistance travelling to a competition who are further away. Sort your basics out
Went to Asda Wigan cafe to try the ‘afternoon tea’ and was extremely disappointed to be given what you can see in the picture. Apparently they had no small tubs to put the cream in so she slapped it on the side of the plate. Then they had no butter so she scooped some into a bowl and apologised that it had toast crumbs in it as seen in the photo. We also ordered a ready made Brie Toasty from the chiller, however when it arrived it had been put in the microwave not the toaster. To top it all the server overcharged us by £3 for what we ordered. I wouldn’t recommend this place if you paid me.
I often go in and buy just a couple of items, I usually go to the kiosk to pay for these however the staff who are behind the counter have moaned on a lot of occasions simply because they have to serve me and have said I should go to a self service till, the self service tills are there as a choice, I choose to use the kiosk counter and your staff are moaning about me purchasing items from you! Alarm bells! They are practically refusing custom. This needs rectifying asap as the staff are often confrontational and ignorant.
More like second hand embarrassment - was using self check out tills and saw young person being approached for a “random scan check” on self check out. I appreciate I didn’t know the ins and outs of the matter - for all I know they could have been a genuine thief, robbing them left right and centre every day of the week - but the manner in which they were spoken to was disgusting. They came across as very apologetic as though they had made a genuine mistake let’s be honest, those guns are not perfect and can easily miss things when scanning, the technology isn’t as up to speed as a real human doing the job. They didn’t come across as aggressive, they seemed genuinely upset and embarrassed by the situation and paid for the goods with no protests or arguments, even when staff were all but accusing them of stealing. If that had been the case, why would they willingly stand and allow staff to detect this and then also pay for the goods? Anyone who wanted to rob something would surely make a run for it rather than offer to pay for the items with little to no protesting? As someone who works with the general public and is responsible for leading a team who comes across much more aggressive customers who are considerably ruder and steal entire units of products, I felt ashamed that this customer was publicly humiliated in a busy self check out area. Is there nowhere they could have been spoken to more privately? Didn’t come across to me as very professional and I won’t be giving my custom again after witnessing this. I understand they have a job to do but when presented with no manned tills or a potential public shaming, my answer will be to shop elsewhere. Life is hard enough without making a holy show out of someone for something they were falling over themselves to apologise about. After reading these reviews, it is very clear that this is not the first person this has happened to either. Maybe someone should have a long hard think about what your staff are saying to real customers who may not be as technology advanced as others or - just maybe - made a mistake rather than seeing the worst in everyone. It does not create for a nice shipping experience for those who have to witness it, never mind the poor customer who is being accused. Very disappointed by the team at Asda robin park and the way they dealt with this situation
Cafe service appalling. Called in for breakfast at 11.15 served til 12after getting currency and shopping to be told not doing any more by woman behind pizza counter who took 10 mins even to acknowledge we were there. You've just lost my custom Asda!!
Sat here now ordered 2 breakfast, cafe wasn't overly busy so thought we would have a quick bite, told no eggs except scrambled so ok, one breakfast took 30 minutes to come and the 2nd 10 minutes later. The eggs were the worst you could imagine microwaved to death, the rest was lukewarm. The worst breakfast I've had. Staff are the most miserable you could have, obviously not happy in their job. No interactional all. We won't be eating in here again. My wife said not to make a complaint as she said we'll just go. Go elsewhere for food.
