Compared to Tesco Extra and Lidl, I prefer Asda overall. This branch is smaller than the Watford one, so the range isn’t as big, but it still covers most everyday shopping needs. The frozen food section is good and reliable. The Asian products selection is limited, which could be improved. Lidl is fine for certain items, but for a more complete shop I find Asda more convenient. The store closes at 23:00, which is generally okay, though later hours would be better. Overall, a solid store and my preferred choice out of the three.
I’m deeply disappointed with how Asda Hemel Hempstead handled my parking fine issue with ParkingEye. I received a Parking Charge Notice for overstaying by just 14 minutes while shopping in-store. After receiving the notice, I immediately went to customer service with both my parking letter and receipt showing I spent over £70 in the store that day. The staff were polite and assured me the fine would be cancelled since I was a genuine customer, even taking my details and the letter itself.nnHowever, weeks later, I received another letter saying the fine had doubled to £100. When I returned to the store, the response was extremely poor — I was told the manager was “too busy dealing with another customer” and that nothing could be done. Showing the receipt again, as well as regular history of purchases using the Asda gift did not help.nnThis has been frustrating and unfair, especially when the store initially promised to help. I hope management reviews this situation and gets in touch to resolve it properly — the way this has been handled does not reflect well on Asda’s customer care.nnIf a shopper spends genuine money in-store, they should not be punished for a short overstay when staff have explicitly promised to take care of it. I would appreciate a follow-up from the store manager to help correct this.
I would like to share my heartfelt appreciation for one of ASDA’s delivery service provider Finley. I am a regular ASDA Grocery online shopper, and over time I have experienced many different delivery drivers. Usually, even when the grocery order includes very heavy items such as multiple packs of water bottles most drivers simply leave the crates at my doorstep and do not offer any assistance. I am left to lift and carry everything myself, which can be quite difficult.nnFinley, however, is a complete standout.nnHe has delivered to my home twice, and both times he has shown exceptional kindness, respect, and genuine willingness to help. Without me asking, he offers a helping hand, lifts the heavy items with ease, and hands everything over carefully always with a friendly smile. These small acts of consideration make a huge difference to customers like me. His attitude is warm, professional, and truly customer-focused.nnIt is clear that Finley takes pride in his work. He goes above and beyond what is required, and he makes the delivery experience not just easy, but pleasant. In a busy world where many rush through tasks, his care and kindness really stand out.nnI would also like to kindly request that ASDA consider recognising Finley through any internal appreciation programme, award, or employee perk available. His service is consistently outstanding, and he genuinely deserves recognition for the delightful and thoughtful experience he provides.nnThank you, Finley, for being an example of excellent customer service. ASDA is very fortunate to have you.
This is a smallish supermarket, but in general meets my needs without the usual hassle & parking at the bigger stores ! The staff have always been pretty good & helpful when occasionally needed...
