Went on a company retreat here for two days and it was magical. The house is so regal and beautiful. The food was good, the service was great. And the spa was outstanding. Highly recommend!
Tranquility at its finest! From the moment you step through the door and take off your shoes, this place is fabulous. There is such a calm but not pretentious atmosphere, the girls are lovely, facilities beautiful, treatments blissful. I had the signature treatment with the lovely Stacey which was fantastic. Cannot recommend highly enough.
This is possibly the best hospitality experience I have ever had, and I shave travelled pretty extensively. We had two nights at ‘The Cottage’ and we had planned to have two nights at another hotel that let us down so the staff at Archerfield pulled out all the stops and arranged two nights at Lodge No 4 for us. I really can’t emphasise how caring and attentive the staff was, it was my Mum’s 70th birthday and they made it really special. The cottage has two very well sized bedroom and a beautiful garden which leads down to the beach, and it is idyllic. The lodge was super impressive, very spacious and well equipped. The balcony was beautiful and peaceful, surrounded by trees. I had two spa treatments, a Voya massage and a facial and they were both so luxurious and the therapists are very well trained and spoil you rotten. It’s not massage or facials by numbers, like you can get in some other spas, they tailor the treatments for your needs. The sauna is one of my favourite places, which a lovely view out to the gardens. We dined at the Clubhouse 3 of the 4 nights and I have breakfast there daily. Again, the service was wonderful. We dined in the Lounge area in the evenings as we had the dogs and they were spoiled as much as us! Sharon at front of house and Leanne in the restaurant really deserve a special commendation, they really went above and beyond to make our stay and my Mum’s birthday super special!
We stayed in the pavillion suites for 3 nights last week. I would firstly like to say: the service we received from every single person who worked here was impeccable. Everyone had a smile and a kind word to say no matter what we needed. The suite we stayed in was MUCH bigger than anticipated and the food was lovely. Comforting and very well cooked. Everyone knew your name on arrival to any of the venues and little touches like this really added to our stay. I would also like to say a massive thank you to the two lovely servers who brought our dinner to us in the rain on our last night! You really made us comfortable that night and it is appreciated. The clubhouse staff were fantastic. Very kind and obviously happy to help. Every single person I came in to contact with in the spa was an absolute joy. Lastly, the staff in the mansion house were kind, friendly and accommodating. I want to add that this is a luxury experience. But compared to others, this was head and shoulders above the rest. On service alone. Thank you all for facilitating a beautiful and relaxing break for my mother and I. We will definitely we returning.
It's a one off as it was a freebie. Amazing place. Accommodation was absolutely tip top. Breakfast wasn't so good on first day but buffet breakfast is the better option. Food was ok but risotto was cold and replacement was no better. Others enjoyed theirs so that's what counts. Overpriced though. Massively
A positive, if confusing place to stay... We stayed in a Pavilion Suite for two nights. The 'contactless check-in' didn't work at all - an admin error - which made for a bit of a dry welcome. It's not really a hotel, more of a sprawling campus with golf at the heart of the offering. On a wet day, you'll need to drive or be driven everywhere, including breakfast. As non-golfers we didn't really get the buzz of the place the car park looks like a Tesla/Range Rover dealership. The Clubhouse is the closest thing to a hotel reception /public room and seems to be where the permenant collection of 60-year-old boardroom executives conduct their weekend business. There's a South African ranch theme running through the interior decor which, whilst well-done, does feel slightly out of place in beautiful East Lothian, but you soon get used to it. Highlights without doubt are both staff and food - the two most important aspects for us. Both evening meals were exceptional and breakfast incredibly well executed. Each and every staff member excluding the spa was kind, attentive, and exceptionally helpful. This is a place for well-moneyed golf nuts to be pampered among like-minded people whilst feeling safe and secure literally: there's a six foot perimeter fence encircling the entire estate - including along the beachfront. We had a fun time glimpsing this alternative reality for a few nights but won't be making a mad dash back.

I would say this is my favourite spa of any I have ever visited. The place itself is fabulous, and the staff are warm and welcoming. It’s really special, and I enjoyed my solo visit hugely - a luxury to sit in such peace, enjoy the surroundings and the treatments. I imagine it would be great to be there with friends too. And considering how lovely it is, I would say it’s excellent value - I have heard far less luxurious experiences at more cost than that. Recommended.
Beautiful place - decor stunning. Staff could not be more helpful. Only downside extremely uncomfortable beds, far too soft. Also water temperature in shower with mixer tap was a bit unpredictable.
Amazing experience. Totally spoiled from start to finish. Food , ambience, service and surroundings are outstanding.
