I booked a last minute deep tissue massage at Angel Therapy rooms recently and was very pleasantly surprised - it is a real hidden gem. The spa is beautifully decorated without being over the top and the staff are very welcoming. My massage with Marion was fantastic. I'll definitely go again.
There seems to be new spas opening and closing all the time. Angel therapy rooms has stood the test of time. I went there 10 years ago and then went to live abroad. I came back to Islington a few weeks back and popped down for a treatment. It was as good if not better than I remembered. It's just one of those rare gems. Great massage, great relaxation area and lovely staff to boot. Felt good to be back! Booking in next week :
I went to Angel Therapy rooms for a 30-min full body massage which was offered to me in the form of a gift voucher. Located in a small street off Essex Rd in Angel, the spa offers a relaxing atmosphere as soon as you enter. The staff is very friendly and makes sure to put you at ease from the beginning with a hot drink and slippers while you fill the introduction form. The masseurs give you several options of areas to focus on head and shoulders or full body depending on the allocated time. Dim lights, pleasant smells and oils used as well as the outstanding skills of the team made is a really relaxing 30 minutes. Yet once out of the room, the experience is not over. The staff leads you into an area that replicates a sofa room with a very homey look and feel. Magazines are laid out and you are served tea and given time to relax for as long as you need. There is even a little patio if you want to take the experience outside. Highly recommended for yourself or as a gift to someone else.
I had an appointment for a facial and a massage using a gift card. Showed up for my appointment and they were closed with a sign on the door reading "Closed sorry for the inconvenience". I tried calling and couldn't get anyone on the phone. I finally was able to reach someone weeks later I think she was called Lorena, who was terribly rude and unapologetic. She said it wasn't their problem because they were bought by another person and then the sale fell through and now they are back to the original owner - so it was the other owner that offered me the rate I wanted to book for. She said they wouldn't honor the previous rate and take responsibility for an appointment that was made under different ownership even if it was temporary. Save your money and trouble and go somewhere else where they are pleasant and accommodating - that's definitely not here!
My first time, I was all set to give this place only two stars. I was told to arrive about 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork, which I did. Their first appointment is at noon, which was my appointment today, and when I arrived at about 11:45 the lights were mostly off. But they turned the lights on and gave me the paperwork to fill out. I was then told my massage therapist hadn't yet arrived. Hmmm, okay.... she arrived at about 12:10 and took me in right away - but I did get rather turned off by the lack of professionalism in terms of either offering me another massage therapist, keeping me updated on her whereabouts, making sure I wasn't in a rush to leave, etc. Marianne, my massage therapist, finally arrived and took me in immediately and filled with apologies. Anyway, once I was taken in, things started getting better. You leave your shoes by the waiting room, which is a nice touch - it adds to the spa like feel of the place, and minimises noise of people walking around. The rooms are lovely - well lit by candlelight, soft music playing, etc. I didn't love the fact that my body was covered with a smallish towel instead of a sheet, but once I got into the massage I forgot about it. I had booked a deep tissue massage and was a bit turned off by the light touch Marianne had at first, but she still somehow managed to get in there and loosen my muscles. At one point she pulled my shoulder blades out, which I've had done before and usually find myself gasping to not yell out, but with Marianne it just felt like a nice gentle stretch that left me feeling quite limber. I'm used to deep tissue massages being very strong and really working out my muscles, with me grunting from the pain the good sort of pain, though!. That's not how Marianne did it - somehow, I received a deep tissue massage and managed to doze off! Afterwards she left me dozing in the room, and when I finally got up and got dressed, she met me in the waiting area with some tea and water, a stack of magazines, a blanket, and my choice of daybeds to curl up on and relax. I was told there was no rush for me to leave, and I truly felt that way. I've been back since and found the service to be exemplary and the massage to be just as relaxing while still hitting the right spots.
Absolutely delightful day spa. A real little haven away from the hustle and bustle of London. Really atmospheric with beautiful sofas, and even a bed to lounge on, gorgeous therapy rooms with beautiful lighting and really friendly service. Couldn't recommend more highly
Really friendly staff. Therapist Raymond was very professional and specialised in sports massage. Strongly recommended for anyone looking to relieve the tension in overstretched muscles. Enchanted by the spa ambience and great location in Angel.
I was given a birthday voucher of £80 for this spa but was out of London due to work for several month. When I wanted to make my appointment, I noticed that it’s only valid for 6 months. I called and emailed but they refused to extend it or give me anything else for it. So, I received £80 of nothing for my birthday. Very disappointing customer service!!
The best spa therapy I’ve ever got was here at Angel Therapy Rooms. The atmosphere was relaxing and so was the massage itself. The peaceful ambiance completes the wonderful spa experience.
I love Angel Therapy Rooms, it's a little haven of relaxation and tranquility in the heart of Islington. I come out of there always feeling renewed and energised. The staff are very friendly and professional. Highly recommend it.
