Booked afternoon tea at the Rosebery to celebrate a friend's 70th birthday. We were given the option on where to sit which was good. It was a set menu but you had a choice on which type of tea you wanted. A good selection of sandwiches were served with 6 different filings, most were very good. You are then given 2 scones each with 3 jams and clotted cream. Finally the pastries are served which were very well made but very sweet. They also presented my friend with a small birthday cake which was a nice touch. The cost of the tea was £85 each but water and alcohol are extra, there was no charge for an extra tray of sandwiches and pots of tea. Service charge is added to this bringing the total to £100 each. Everyone had a great time so it was worth it and the hotel is one of the top hotels in London, very instagrammable.
Afternoon tea did not disappoint: sandwiches were lights and tasty, scones were good and the cakes were delicious. The selection of teas is amazing. Beautiful location with a talented singer and great staff.Food: 5/5
We came on a Monday for afternoon tea. We got the full set. They start with a sour tea which helped open up the appetite. It actually tasted better than the tea which I picked blend. They started off with 5 sandwiches. Our favorites were the egg and black truffle sandwich, the smoked salmon sandwich and the lobster sandwich. The chicken sandwich was dry and boring. Next came the elderflower blueberry macaron which was absolutely delicious. The tier of scones and handmade pastries came last. The scones were okay. The clotted cream was the best part of it. The scones were not too dry. The handmade pastries were all really disappointing except for the strawberry tart. The popcorn puff tasted stale. The pink flower cake was too sweet and the chocolate cube was very one dimensional. They also presented us with another tart as we were celebrating a graduation. Very cute and nice of them. Overall I loved the ambiance of the place. The chairs were a bit too comfortable it made me want to take a nap. The savoury items were better than the sweet and the macarons were to die for. I felt like the first time around they didn't steep my tea enough but the second time was fine. We couldn't finish everything so they packed up our desserts but it seems like they had missed our scones which was fine. The service was fast and accommodating. Overall it's a decent place for afternoon tea. I would want to try other places as the pastries here didn't really impress me enough.
The most exquisite afternoon tea experience I have ever had, service was outstanding from start to finish. The quality of food and ambience was top notch, I cannot thank the waitresses/waiters enough for their professionalism and attentiveness during the time we were there. The complimentary ‘Happy Birthday’ dessert for my dear friend was a nice touch, thank you!
The food was alright for afternoon tea, the cakes were a bit too sweet for my taste apart from the Tiramisu in the end. The tea and coffee are very good and they have a large selection. The atmosphere was nice, with LIVE music and a cute setup. The service was splendid with Elena taking great care of us. Vegetarian options: They have a full vegan Afternoon Tea menu
Like a tea at grandma's. The room was loud, the service borderline sloppy despite their good intentions. Servers forgot the teas we ordered and had to be reminded, one server had a coughing fit and then carried on serving- no hand washing or even a splash of sanitizer. The sandwiches were good and the vegan options were very tasty. The pastries were too sweet but this probably specified to my taste buds. Not exactly what I imagined from the Mandarin but still a fun afternoon tea with the option to order second servings of sandwiches which is always a great surprise. Vegetarian options: There is an afternoon tea option that is vegetarian and another one that is vegan. Kid-friendliness: Child menu available; it's a loud environment and not stuffy.
This was so fun I thought I was LARPing Regency Lady Having Tea. I think it is about twice the calories one human needs a day, without the alcohol. It was fabulous and fun. It is very pricey. Every bite is wonderful.
I treated my friend visiting from Canada for her birthday to afternoon tea in December. What a absolutely beautiful venue, all the Christmas decorations were so pretty and tastefully festive. The food was amazing, decadent and well presented. The staff were attentive, polite and had amazing energy. The hostess was the sweetest, and orchestrated a mini photo shoot for us during and after our tea. We felt welcomed and really enjoyed the experience!
I went to the Afternoon Tea at the Rosebery at the Mandarin Oriental near Hyde Park in London. The seasonal set menu was the Winter Tea, which included as many teas, coffees, and hot chocolates as you like. The food was a mini sandwiches course followed by scones and jams, and then pastries. They also offered re-orders of the sandwiches, which is included. The decor of the tea room is beautiful. The scones and jam trays are hung from an ornate wrought iron floor stand that can also hold your bags and purses. The standout sandwiches were the curried chicken and truffled egg. The strawberry jam was excellent. The best pastry was the Chestnut and Redcurrant Spiral. The tea list is extensive and includes various teas and blends. The mint hot chocolate was also delicious. They also offer fully gluten-free and vegan menus for the Afternoon Tea.
Second time we've been there for afternoon tea. First for Mother's Day and today! Absolutely loved today's afternoon tea. First afternoon tea ever that I've finished all the pastries! The sandwiches were really lovely. I wasn't sure about the sandwich with Wensleydale cheese & figs and was certain I wanted it replaced, but I'm glad I didn't as it was my fave and had a second serving of it! I can't recommend it enough. So much better than the one for Mother's day. We got a beautiful seat by the window. My cousin got a lovely birthday pastry. Service fell a little short as staff kept forgetting to bring certain things we asked but were really friendly still! We will come back again.
