Such a charming little pub. We came across this place on our first night in Swanage. The staff were immediately friendly and made us feel welcomed. We ordered our dinner, which was from the Christmas menu and we were not disappointed. First came out warm bread with mixture of butter and oil for dipping was so lovely didn’t even take a picture we ordered the burger with the Brie and OMG my taste bud have never experienced such a perfect burger! The cheese cake… I couldn’t get enough! It was perfect.
Whilst visiting Swanage called into The Anchor. What a lovely pub. The food was exceptional. Share the Nachos - but wished I’d had my own as they were so lovely. Next had the risotto which was unbelievable with the chargrilled chicken and my husband had the Lamb and red wine Anchor pie - which again was delicious. Cannot recommend The Anchor enough.
Eaten here a couple of times recently and both times the food has been excellent, the service very good and the overall experience very enjoyable. I would like to see some vegetarian food not vegan, although the vegan options were good; but that’s the case in many places nowadays. Did feel a little squashed in, but didn’t detract much from the evening Certainly the best pub in town for a meal. And finally.... What happened when the news reporter fell into the water? She became an anchor...
Recently had dinner in the anchor during our stay in swanage, and to say I was impressed would be an understatement. The menu was varied, with vegan options. I had the belly of pork, and it was not only cooked to perfection, but beautifully presented too. I would not label this as "pub grub" as the quality of the food was way beyond that. Top marks too to the table staff, who were very attentive. My new "go to" place to eat whenever I'm next in swanage. Highly recommended.
It’s my birthday so out on a pub crawl in Swanage so lots of pub reviews to follow . So nice pub, modern inside great attitude, nice beer and fair price. As I say happy to recommend
We had a fabulous meal last night. The mains were delicious. The chef clearly knows his stuff. Try the pork belly! Deserts are fabulous. The staff were run off their feet but did a great job on a really busy Monday evening. Can't recommended the food highly enough. Limited wine list, but respectable NZ sauvingnon.
Staff were friendly, dinner was exceptionally good for the price. Kudos to the chef
I asked if they could cater for Gluten Free and was told yes. I was informed which meals could be provided as Gluten Free and ordered one. However, it clearly wasn't as I was seriously ill an hour or so later. So don’t trust this pub to provide dietary requirements which most pubs/restaurants do without any problems.
Lucky to get an ad hoc Sunday lunch at 12 as it was fully booked after 2pm. Lovely roasts pork and beef particularly the veg, Yorkshires and tasty gravy Didn't see a pudding menu. Noteworthy: very clean establishment Food: 5/5
Nice little pub in the town centre. We noticed lots of tables had reserved on them so we guessed the food must be delicious. We did look at the food menu very nice. We weren't eating. Good selection of drinks The staff very polite. The toilets clean and tidy.
