Alston is a nice little village and this hostel is a great place to stay. The hosts were very friendly and look after it well and keep it clean. There is pretty well everything you would need and also cooked breakfasts available and red squirrels to view from the dining room!

Wow, how youth hostels have changed since my youth! The Alston yha is amazing and I would highly recommend it. For us we had exclusive family use for a birthday celebration and everything was absolutely perfect. It's well kept, modern, and had enough utensils and kitchen equipment for all eventualities. The rooms were spacious and spotless which speaks volumes for the wardens and those who visit too. The weekend was brilliant. Thanks YHA and Linda.

We go and hire it out every year and always find new improvements! Love meeting up with family here and enjoying the weekend

A great place to stay with a warm welcome. It's a family run hostel which offers the chance to order an evening meal and full English breakfast in the morning. The hostel is clean and tidy, has well equipped self-catering facilities and situated in a truly beautiful part of England.

Good youth hostel. Spar and coop near by. Cafés and hotel restaurant near. Closed reception from 10am to 5pm when I was there in October
