Stayed here for a night with my partner as our flight was carried forward, location was great! The staff are extremely friendly and kind, they expedite our check-in, gave us recommendations around the area and basically helped us with whatever we needed. I'm very impressed with the service standards. The room was clean, comfortable and lovely, it's 100% worth your buck. The breakfast is buffet style and every item was on-point, they don't compromise on quality. Highly recommend
The Alex Hotel location is excellent. Everything else is subpar. There is no gym on site, it is around the corner further than advertised. We had the executive king room. It was comfortable and faced north away from the noisy street. The bed was comfortable, the water pressure was very poor. It was unseasonably warm in Dublin the week we were there and the air conditioning in the hotel was not very good. Our room was uncomfortably warm almost all the time. Housekeeping was inconsistent and forgot something everyday. The executive lounge is poorly stocked we had to call down frequently to have items restocked. When it is stocked it is not worth the additional cost of staying in an executive room. The hotel seemed to have some trouble with staffing and training. Would not stay again. Rooms: No view. Comfortable bed. Poor water pressure. Air conditioning was not effective for the unseasonably warm weather. Housekeeping needs training and the hotel staff need to work on better communication with each other. Nearby activities: Several parks and museums are right around the corner. Very close to Dart station. Walkability: Great location, very walkable.
Our wedding reception was held at the Alex last week and we had a fantastic day. Their Meetings & Events Executive, Daphne, did a brilliant job of organising everything and ensuring that all of our needs were met. On the big day, Jason and Aaron had everything running like clockwork - They provided an unbelievable service and wedding nerves quickly disappeared as we knew we were in safe hands. All of our guests were blown away by the food and the Secret Garden provided the perfect setting for our guests to enjoy some drinks in the sun before dinner. The rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious. We will definitely be making return visits in the future! Thanks to all involved for making our wedding day so memorable.
Arrived in Dublin 4:30am room was available to use right away. Wait about 3 hours and received full Irish breakfast. We were able to nap for 2 hours then shower and begin our day exploring Dublin. This allowed us the comfort of some rest , instead of being drained due to lack of sleep. The next morning we left before breakfast for our tour. The breakfast was exchanged for the one the day before very convenient. Rooms and hotel very clean. Walkability: Close enough to walk if you're used to walking. Uber is easy and average 10 euro.
We stayed in the junior suite for my partners birthday and we had an amazing time. When I read the reviews leading up to our stay they never felt fully about the stay, either mainly commented on the restaurant or meeting rooms so I wanted to write a slightly longer one once we had finished our stay. Firstly, when arriving at the hotel, the smell as you walk in was lovely. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming as soon as we arrived and explained everything. We went to our room as they delivered our bags. The first thing we noticed were the birthday balloons which was such a sweet extra; very thoughtful. We were pleasantly surprised by the space of the room, and the bed was massive! Everything looked tidy and clean. There was some very slight surface dust but just enough that would have settled after cleaning. The bedding was fresh. Overall, it was very clean and spacious. The door went, and we assumed it was our bags but it was another birthday surprise of some chocolates which we did not expect so that again was a great extra touch! Then our bags arrived shortly after. The room had plenty of amenities, some robes and slippers, plenty of towels, toiletries, coffee, tea and a small fridge with water and milk, etc. Plenty of sockets around the place too! All the staff we dealt with were really nice, everyone greeted us when we came back, the domestic staff were great fixing our room back up during the day. Can't really fault it at all. Anais was fantastic as she was the main person we dealt with, can't praise her highly enough! We didn't eat in the restaurant as we were exploring the city as much as we could, but one of the only criticisms we did have is I don't think there were many veggie options for dinner, which was one of the reasons for not eating there, there is a vegan main but no veggie main. There looks like there were better options for the brunch menu but we weren't normally around at that time. The location was great, only a 10 min walk to temple bar, plus one of the tour bus stops was about a 2 min walk so that was great! The bed and pillows were super comfy and spacious! The room was very quiet actually considering it was quite near a pub! We had access to the executive lounge, which was a very cool touch, we didn't however utilise it, but did have a soft drink in there. It seemed well stocked and wasn't busy when we used it. Nice if you wanted to get out of your room for a bit. Very quiet too! I did have a pastry from the cafe, steam, attached to the hotel and that was very nice. The only criticisms we had are very small and don't detract from our stay at all but are mostly constructive, so I think are worth mentioning: We didn't really understand how to work the aircon so would be nice to have an instruction manual, same with the coffee machine and the button in the bathroom which I assumed was for underfloor heating?. The room key was very temperamental when trying to turn the lights on and we had to flip it all sorts of ways to get it to work. The curtain in the bedroom was set inside the window which let a very small amount of light in, compared to the curtains in the living room area which are set outside the window frame so let much less light in. I have no doubt with the small criticisms above that I could have asked the staff and they would have sorted it out as we did ask for more coffee pods for our room at one point and they brought us some more, also the handle to the window wouldn't close and they came to look at it and logged it with maintenance for a time that suited us, so I know the staff would be helpful had we addressed anything above, they were however very small and at the time we didn't feel needed to be resolved. Overall, we cannot fault the staff, room, location or service received during our stay. We would 100% stay here again when we return to Dublin. Thank you all at the Alex! Rooms: Spacious junior suite and access to executive lounge. Walkability: 10/15 min walk to temple bar. 2/3 min walk to Oscar Wilde house and tour bus stop. 30 second walk to nearest pub.
Location was good - walkable to everything in Dublin. The housekeeping staff consistently underperformed. When we checked in, the first two rooms were dirty - I found used, dried-up contact lenses on the floor of the first room, and plastic retail tags on the floor of the second room. Clearly no vacuuming had been done - gross! We finally got settled in an Executive King, which was fine but housekeeping barely cleaned. I had to ask them to re-stock soap and drinking glasses. They didn’t clean the toilet or change the sheets. The Executive Lounge was fine but often out of water, glasses and snacks. There seems to be a consistent theme in the reviews that the housekeeping and cleanliness is spotty. I would not stay here again.
I loved everything about this hotel! Stayed there for 2 nights. Our room was BIG - which was refreshing for Europe. Bathroom was so nice. The entire hotel is so charming with the decor. Breakfast was fabulous! Walkability: Good location! Food & drinks: Breakfast buffet was so delicious!
We arrived in Dublin and were driven directly to the Alex. Although our room wasn’t ready, Patrick at the front desk was most gracious and helpful. He stored our luggage and suggested a few things to do. We enjoyed the morning breakfasts and cocktails later at night. The staff were all very pleasant. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend the Alex !
The Alex Hotel is the best hotel in Dublin! The staff here is AMAZING and the interiors are so luxurious and stylish. Plus, there are great pubs and restaurants all within a 2min walk. The hotel’s on-site restaurant is absolutely delicious, too! I sincerely cannot recommend this hotel enough; they went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. 5/5
Room was stunning, love all the products they had and the location is perfect. The staff were also very nice! My only comment would be that the front desk staff seemed a little all over the place. We also had some friends drop off a gift for us which was never brought to our room. Had they not told us about it we would have never gotten them! They did eventually bring it bags to the room after our friend went a spoke to them again.
