My care from beginning to end has been excellent at Albyn Hospital. Every member of staff i encountered from catering, physios, nursing staff and consultants were so nice, helpful and made my operation and short stay so easy and stress free. I would definitely recommend this hospital to anyone considering an orthopedic surgery.
I can't fault the consultation I had with Mr Kapil Kumar and subsequent CT Scan. The radiologists Jill and Asha took the time to explain everything clearly, which helped calm my nerves. At my follow-up, my consultant carefully went through my results and treatment options. At all times I felt confident in the care I received. I would recommend Albyn Hopsital. Thank you.
Just had a total hip replacement at Albyn hospital in Aberdeen. Overall a good experience. Staff were attentive and pleasant it makes a big difference when staff smile and are pleasant, especially when patient feeling under the weather. Room was comfortable and food & drink good. Consultant surgeon visited several times and was happy to discuss anything so I felt well-informed.
This is my second orthopaedic stay at Albyn Hospital under the excellent care of Mr Christopher Munro. I stayed one night but couldn't get collected till late afternoon. I was able to stay in my room and have a mid afternoon nap before discharge - I hadn't slept much during the night due to being hooked up to a knee-bending machine - a machine I strangely missed once it was taken away . I missed the rhythmic hiss and the knowledge it was helping my recovery.nnMy health care assistant Amanda was wonderful. Organised a menu once she realised I'd missed lunch on discharge day. She was always helpful and cheery despite the long shifts. Amanda let me stay in the room as long as possible before it needed to be refreshed for the next patient.nnOnce I left my room I sat in a pleasant patients' lounge with hot drinks available waiting to be collected, which I didn't mind at all.nnI was given warfarin injections on discharge which I didn't expect and would have much preferred oral warfarin as I had last year after an operation. I was unsure why this was and wish I had been given the option of oral warfarin before it was dispensed. I've never injected myself before.nnThere was confusion about another medication, now rarely used, that I was unable to get once home but the female pharmacist was very understanding, empathetic and patient with me and has arranged for an amended prescription to be emailed to my local chemist for me to collect tomorrow.nnAll in all another very pleasant stay at Albyn Hospital.nnI also had the pleasure of being woken up again, as I was 12 months ago, by the recovery room nurse Riddell who is the most caring and lovely recovery room nurse. Riddell also came to check on me later in the day. Thank you Riddell, I felt so calm seeing you again when I woke up.
I had a wonderful experience, having never had surgery before I was naturally a little nervous! I was very well cared for. Ever aspect of treatment, care procedures were explained clearly to me. Everyone involved in my care was so kind and friendly. It felt like a home from home and it made the whole experience so very positive. The food was also exceptional! Thank you!
