What a lovely classic place to eat. The staff are so helpful and attentive! They served us free pompadour and dips. The food was so yummy we couldn’t even finish the food. My second time visiting this lovely place and won’t be my last. Food: 5/5
Went for a lunch. Asked the waiter for recommendations, for their specialities and was advised to take kali mirchi karahi so took this and chops for a starter. We were served pappadams with sauces, unfortunately my poppadom was taken back by the waiter before I could finish it. Food arrived super fast which in this case wasn't a good thing... Chops were pre cooked taste like boiled a day earlier, covered in a strange powdered taste like masala. Black pepper mutton wasn't very impressive, consistency and taste like cooked by amateur chief. Very disappointing as if it was recommend as a house special so should have that wow factor but it looks like it was recommended based on what they had leftover from the night before and just need to get rid off. We couldn't finish that small portion of mutton and had to take half home - after 2 days still have that box in the fridge as no one feel tempted or hungry enough to eat it... Room was very cold with AC full on blasting. Overall I'm quite confident we were served a leftovers from a previous day, except naans that were the only fresh items on the table . At this point I don't think we will go back there again . Parking: Off street or paid car park near by.
This was my first “eat out” curry back in 1982. I have been an infrequent visitor since - mainly as I live far away. The next generation of the family have taken the restaurant to the next level - still true to its roots but up-to-date. Great lunch and food had a Desi kick delicious
We were made comfortable the moment we stepped in. The owner's grandson was there and he was very helpful as I had some issues with my phone. Food was excellent, on time and really delicious. The ambience was calm, relaxing and enjoyable. The tea I had there was one of the best I had in months. Great work guys, keep up the good work.
Went back after 2 years, food quality is 5/5 however the service was very slow, I would recommend if you don’t mind waiting for fresh food. Ordered lamb chops 5/5, masala fish 5/5, peshwari lamb 5/5, Karachi chicken boneless 4/5, chicken biryani 2/5Food: 5/5
The quality of the food is very good - with the flavours just jumping out at you - and perfectly spiced the lamb shish kebab starter was nice and "punchy"! The Kahari Gohst with a plain naan never disappoints - delicious! Again, bursting with flavour and the lamb was really succulent. The mango lassie was thick, sweet and almost soothing, and accompanied our food perfectly. As its BYO, the choice of drink is up to you, and it certainly helps in keeping costs down. Parking can be a pain, as the small carpark opposite is often full, but there are generally places in the small side streets nearby.
Visited this restaurant on Saturday with my cousins and uncle. Firstly the service at this restaurant was absolute carnage. From ordering starters to ordering mains, our food took over an hour to come. This is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable! In regards to the quality of the food, my favourite was the lamb chops, chicken karahi and the lamb curry which apparently takes 45 mins to cook? The rice from the Bombay Briyani did seem to be undercooked and just full of masala, which makes me think, I may need to arrange a masterclass for the chefs on how to make Briyani. The portion sizes were also average, I had the shock of my life when I found out bottled water was priced at £4.50 so stuck to tap water. Overall the service could have been better however I guess you cannot get the staff these days * Edited * After speaking with family I went with to this restaurant, everyone has complained of diarrhoea and vomitting. These reduces the review from 2 stars to 1 star.
While the ambiance was somewhat pleasant, the food at this alleged Kashmiri restaurant left much to be desired. The flavors lacked authenticity and depth. The food was disappointingly dry and undercooked, and the service was slow and inattentive. Overall, it was a disappointing dining experience that I will not be repeating anytime soon.
The management do not know how to handle the customer. Visited the restaurant with my nephews and the food was ordered at 7.35pm the main never arrived until 9pm after complaining. Also drinks were flat due to being served from large drinks bottles and charging £4.50 per serving. Also they state Coke, Fanta and Sprite on the bill but serve Barrs Cola and 7-up. The standard of the food was poor, it left us with diarrhoea and sickness.
Great food, though the whole chicken was extraordinary dry. Probably a day or two cold, or maybe left on the grill for a tad too long. Food arrived in a timely manner. Servers were mindful and helpful! Al-Faisal's is our go-to place for a decent sit-down meal, and usually never a disappointment. Advice - take the whole chicken off of the menu. And.... What's with the 10% service charge? This is Sparkhill/Balsall Heath, not Knightsbridge!! A little pricey but enjoyable. Parking: Car park across the street. Usually full, but spaces available most of the time. Plenty of street parking in the vicinity.
