Our walks through the Abbey Gardens were one of our favorite parts of our visit to Bury St. Edmunds. We visited them every morning and evening since they were beautiful and wonderfully quiet. They’re also the perfect place to take a dog on a walk.nnThe ancient ruins of the Abbey, the beautiful gardens and trees, and of course the cathedral were all really lovely to spend our daily walks in.
Been living here for years now and Abbey Gardens is always nice to visit. The gardens are gorgeous in the spring with the flower beds and squirrels everywhere, and the little coffee shop and the aviary is lovely to see. There's a small koo fish bond thats open most of the time, perfect to sit in quiet with a coffee in hand. People set up picnics here all the time and have a great time, and you can also read about the ruins on the information boards.
The momerial garden is beautiful all year round and very moving. A lovely place to sit and think, or read the plaques.nThe aluminium bench was a donation from the USAAF, but had no explanation of what exactly it was made from. I assume it's part of an aircraft wing, and would love to know more about it.
Whilst it was winter when we visited for a walk around these gardens are very well tended for. Only a few flowers on display at this time of year but can imagine it would be lovely in spring with the new blooms. There is a rose garden which is also a remembrance area too - very nicely done.
Abbey Gardens in Bury St Edmunds is absolutely beautiful and such a joy to visit. The gardens are perfectly maintained, full of colour and seasonal blooms, with peaceful paths to wander and plenty of seating to take in the views. The historic Abbey ruins add a fascinating sense of history and make the setting even more special. It’s a wonderful spot for a relaxing stroll, a picnic, or simply to enjoy some quiet time in stunning surroundings. Truly one of the highlights of Bury St Edmunds
