The place is fun but it has an identity crisis. It doesn't know what crowd it wants to attract therefore one can find a variety of themed nights, all of which end up half empty. Perhaps a focus on playing music for a chosen crowd or having a theme would result in customers that actually return. Also the bouncers are unnecessarily rude, the crowd normally doesn't seem too rowdy, it's mostly uni students for the theme nights so the extra vigilant attitude really doesn't make sense.
the bouncers are unnecessarily rude. First time visiting Liverpool and my phone was dead. Was laying my head on my girlfriend and she accused me of sleeping. I tried to explain but they just pulled me out without telling my friends. I was stuck outside the club for 30 mins after I was assaulted by one of the bouncers who grabbed me round the neck. She is a smaller woman and she was very rude and refused to tell my mates I had been kicked out.
I visited this bar on a Friday night and was disappointed. There were only a few people, and the dance floor was tiny, creating a lackluster atmosphere. The bouncer at the door spoke in a manner that was very unpleasant and came across as rude. So uncomfortable with the way he talks. I won't be returning.Food: 2/5
Bar staff and bouncers were rude and really not helpful at all. At the end of the night I went to ask if anyone had handed in my jacket and they just brushed me off and didn’t care. The DJ didn’t play any of the music that we were told would be played. Just an all round bad experience.Food: 1/5
Good venue, not to busy and the toilets were OK. The bar was ridiculously slow though. There were 3 young people on that should have been able to smash through the queue as it wasn't that busy. Beans on toast were playing who were brilliant as ever. Would highly recommend attending one of your favourite gigs here.
I’m very surprised to see reviews of how good the sound is here. The venue and staff are all friendly and it really is a cool place and could be great for bands. I went to see a band last weekend and clearly even the band were distressed with the sound quality and I’m not surprised. Whoever has done the audio visual installation of this place has got it terribly wrong - this is no reason not to visit the place by the way, I’m sure it’s somewhat saved when the artist in question isn’t a loud band or has DJ based backing tracks so gets lost in the messy hum. You’re hit by 2 speakers as you walk in great if your stood in the door way and 2 speakers on stage that half of them are smacking the low girder and causing the sound to bounce back. With a proper AV installation this place would be awesome. Unfortunately one of the worst sounding venues I’ve been to and I’ve lost count to how many gigs and venues I’ve been to. Great potential and as I say, good location and cool place. TERRIBLE sound.
