Our experience started with an outstanding service. Then the food came to the table. I can assure you that all the food was very fresh which is not very common these days with so many chain restaurants around. In my holidays in London, I had never imagined visiting the same restaurant three times in a raw. I am glad that I did. I greatly appreciate these kind of old fashion restaurants with very affordable prices.
I took my mum and son to Yialousa Greek restaurant yesterday. The experience and the food was wonderful. We were all hungry when we arrived there and didn't know what to order. The lovely Greek waiter explained us the whole menu in a very friendly way and helped us choose the most adequate dishes for us. I found the restaurant very family friendly as they attended all specific requests of my son. Then the manager came and checked whether everything was ok and if my son liked the food. I also want to mention that the Seabass I had was very fresh and testy. My mum's mixed grill was delicious too. The vegetable that was served with my fish was fresh too, which is not very usual in London restaurants. So this Greek restaurant definitely deserves to be applauded in terms of the freshness of the food. I especially loved the baklava that we had at the end. It was the best baklava that I had in London. We will definitely go back there soon. I would like to thank the staff for all their attentions. I still remember the scrumptious baklava!!!!
We were walking through the area on our way to an evening venue and were looking for somewhere to eat that would be convenient and quick service. Yialousa looked quiet it was still very early evening and filled up much more later and the menu looked interesting so we took a chance. We weren't disappointed. The staff were really nice, very helpful and chatty without being over the top and considering this place has been around a long, long time in London terms, they didn't seem to have lost their interest in people. We had an excellent meal quickly served - tasty, well cooked, fresh and nicely presented, washed down with a super Greek red wine all at a very reasonable cost for London. The décor was a little dated, but we hardly noticed this. All in all, very pleased and would certainly go there again if we were up that way.
We sat outside today, and the tables were very unsteady. When we asked for an ashtray, the waiter brought us one that had somebody else's cigarette butts in them, so cleanliness isn't a priority. After we ordered the food, we noticed that the tables were also incredibly dirty. The restaurant is by the road there is a lot of traffic noise, ambulances and police cars pass by frequently, so all the dust was blown directly onto the tables without being wiped. We cleaned them ourselves with some wet wipes. The food took ages to arrive. Remember how i said the tables were shaky? The waiter stepped on the table's foot and spilled my water on the table. And then we had to wait for the cutlery. My vegetarian moussaka was alright but that's all about it, not strong on the taste department either. We then had to wait for another 20 minutes for the bill to arrive, as the waiter was busy talking to the people behind the bar. They also charge a 10% service charge on the already overpriced food considering their attitude and the averageness of the food.
Ate at this restaurant tonight. Been visiting London for a few days and every time I walked passed this place seemed to have good custom so thought I would give it a try. How I wish I hadn't bothered. Food and service leave a lot to be desired. Had to ask for order to be taken, the starter came and the soup had an odd taste, quite bitter but thought maybe it's just me. No one came to see if I was happy with it. Stepped outside for some fresh air and all of a sudden my main appear. Starter plate still sitting there and as far as the kitchen knew I was still eating my starter. Looked at my main and thought that does not resemble anything I have ate in Greece or the Greek island but thought, as the optimised, give it a try, it can't be that bad. Again how wrong why I. Although the lamb was lovely and tender that is about all the positives I can say for the meal. There was no sight of any kind of herb or seasoning used across the whole dish. Was served with veg and roast potatoes. The potatoes had the same processed texture as aunt betties and I think the veg had just been hovering for a second over a boiling pan as it was bordering on raw. In the mix off all this another waitress took a bag of rubbish through the restaurant out the front door and placed it on the street. While i understand as a street which is in a block there is no side entrance, is this not something that could be done out of sight of cutomers. Needless to say this was a very unenjoyable meal and I would recommend anyone with taste buds or likes to actually have a server who is attentive in a restaurant to stay well clear
Incredible!! The cheff was attending the customers, he oppened us the door and was very friendly and solicitous during the dinner. We ordered the tasting menu, because we didn´t know anything about greek food, and everithing was delicious and I couldn´t finish my food!! It was due to the quantity, because the quality was excellent!! This menu was 16 pound per person, and finally we paid 23 pounds per person, very cheap for this so well located restaurant!! If I were again in London, I would return, no doubt!!
I ate here one evening whilst on business. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the food was very delicious. This was not my first visit and on each occasion I was pleasantly pleased. I shall continue to enjoy whenever possible
Second time we have eaten here. Enjoyed first time. Food this time was reasonable although falafel balls were very overcooked and hard. Both times only took cash. ..not sure why. Not sure we will go again as there is another Greek restaurant a few streets away
Now, this restaurant looked beautiful, the colours in the restaurant really complimented each other and it was a great first impression. The food was delicious i order a chicken shish with humus and peta bread, the chicken was well cooked with the chips being cooked well and crispy, definitely one of the best greek restaurants in london, hugely recommended, will be back soon.
We used to come here fairly frequently but it has changed hands. The meze was pleasant but about half the amount of food it used to be without a reduction in price. However the main reason for only giving 2 stars is they added on a whopping great service charge without itemising it and we noticed only because we added up the bill and found it was much too high. The bill had "service is not included" printed on the bottom and they had sort of swiped a pen lightly near the "not" but not over it. They then told us how to add a tip to the credit card amount.
