A family of four, we have just stayed for 3 nights, camping in the grounds. It's smaller compared to some other YHA's we've stayed in but excellent all round. The location a short walk to the village centre is great, the facilities, including the kitchen, shower rooms, eating and lounge areas have everything you need and are kept clean thoroughly. The camping area is a small, flat garden that fits 6-8 good sized tents. There are picnic tables and benches in the camping area so if you're camping you don't need to bring any tables or camping chairs.The staff were all really friendly and hard working. Helmsley itself is absolutely beautiful and we will definitely be back to this gem of a place. Walkability: It's very close to the start of The Cleveland Way 10 minutes walk. Very easy walk from the main square to the YHA.
August 2023 - visit 1 We stayed in the 5 bed en suite room for 3 nights. It is a large room with plenty of space and a private bathroom. It was clean, comfortable and great as a base for exploring the area. The staff are brilliant & we’ve had a great stay. August 2023 - visit 2 Absolutely brilliant stay again! We had the 5 bed en suite room and it was perfect. The hostel was generally much busier this time but still plenty of space for everybody. We stayed two nights and everybody had a good sleep. The facilities are excellent - the kitchen especially! The staff are all brilliant and genuinely care about the hostel & it’s guests. On the second day we had a walk into Helmsley and were pleasantly surprised to find it full of cafes, nice little shops etc. The YHA is ideally located for visits to York, Scarborough & Whitby. We’ll definitely be back! Rooms: Large comfortable rooms. Safety: Very safe. The front door is locked when there is nobody at the front desk.

This is one of the smaller YHAs so didn't have an option for supper but it has everything else you could want: breakfast, camping, private rooms, kitchen, social area, outdoor seating, games, books, alcohol, snacks and so much more. The price is the best I've seen in a long time and nice staff. Rooms: Rooms are a good size. Every bed has a socket and a light. There was a sink in my shared room, storage under the beds. Nearby activities: Helmsley has lots of shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs. Helmsley castle. There is a walled garden. National Trust Rivelux is just down the road. There is lots more a short car journey away Walkability: Helmsley town center is about a 10 minute walk where you'll find all the shops and attractions Food & drinks: Breakfast, drinks and snacks are available from the hostel otherwise there is a wide selection of options in Helmsley town centre. Lots of independent shops at reasonable prices

We booked the whole hostel for our group. Great location and great place to stay. Good facilities, plenty of space. Well equipped kitchen. Secure bike storage. Plenty of hot water. Definitely return for another stay.
Me and my whole family booked this place out so we could all finally be in one place at any one time there is alot of us and we found it to be perfect! Great location, comfy beds, plenty of room for us all. We couldn't ask for moreRooms: 5/5
5/5 Loved every thing about my stay here! Location were perfect, Our room were massive and the shower were amazing!! The staff were so lovely too!!
