Slingsby Camping and Caravanning Club Site

Story

Our pretty Slingsby Club campsite sits between the rolling Howardian Hills to the south and the Vale of Pickering and the North York Moors National Park to the north making the campsite a popular base for walkers.

Situated in a peaceful location on the edge of a village, the level, well maintained campsite has modern facilities including a laundry, dish washing area and a well equipped amenity block.

There are plenty of walking opportunities direct from the campsite. Slingsby village, for example, is within walking distance and surrounded by an intricate network of lanes, footpaths and bridleways.

The area is dotted with magnificent historic buildings. Take your pick from gems including the magnificent 18th century Castle Howard, Nunnington Hall, Newburgh Abbey, Helmsley Castle and Rievaulx Abbey.

Three of the area’s most popular attractions are within 15 miles of the campsite. There’s Flamingoland with its wild animals and wilder rides, the modern history theme museum – Eden Camp and the North York Moors Railway which runs a scenic route from Pickering to Whitby.

The medieval city of York, around a half hour’s drive away, is famous for its city walls, minster and a variety of museums. The city’s Park and Ride scheme accommodates motorhomes.

There are only Club Service pitches so the fee of £3.85 will apply at all times.

My new favourite site in Yorkshire! Staff were lovely so welcoming and helpful, spotless toilets, lovely walks near by, quiet and peaceful, I was upset we didn't have an extra day off work to stay longer. There's a lovely little pub a small walk away which do the best pizzas too. Will 100% be backRooms: 5/5
A peaceful site with friendly wardens. The pitches are flat and quite a few of them face open fields. There are both hardstanding and grass pitches. It’s a small site, so wherever you’re pitched it isn’t far to the facilities. The site is well maintained and the shower/toilet block are kept clean. There is a pub in the village serving food, which is only a five minute walk away. There are footpaths from the site. There are also various attractions a short drive away such as Nunnington Hall and Castle Howard.
We have just returned from a week's holiday at this little gem of a site at Slingsby which is our favourite which we have stayed at many times. The Holiday site Managers Caroline and Paul and assistants Fiona and Darren are the best ever! They are all so welcoming and friendly and always ready to help. The site is immaculate and they work so hard but have always time to bother with you. They deserve 5 stars and will look forward to visiting them again soon. From Steve and Jackie Wilson York Edit: review amended as originally accidentally left a one star review, oops! It should have been five stars of course- sorry, we were gutted to find out we'd made this error- it's the first time we've ever left a review. Thanks again to Caroline and Paul, and Fiona and Darren.
Great well kept campsite, immaculately clean. 5 minute walk to the local pub which serves pizza and burgers, which are great and they do them take away too. Dog friendly with a great walk right on the doorstep. Will be returning. Great location for Malton, Castle Howard, flamingo land and Pickering.Service: 5/5
Really lovely camp site, very well kept lot's of flowering plant's around, grass pitches nice & short. Great staff very friendly & helpful. Spotless shower's & toilet's. Lovely walks nearby gorgeous church in the village, pub 2 mins walk looked nice from the outside we didn't go in. Malton 6.5 miles ride in the car worth a visit. Helmsley 10 mile's away. We would definitely return.
Great site, spotlessly clean, helpful friendly staff. Great walks, fantastic bakery/cafe and a grocery store there also. About 2.5 mile walk all on farm track/good maintained ground.Service: 5/5
Superb spot. Not the biggest but very quiet. Very flat; on long disused rail line. Surrounded by flat farmland. Harwardian Hills in the distance. Maypole on village green. Fish and chip van on, I think, Tuesdays. Said to be a very good pub in village. Excellent staff. Shall return. Nearby activities: Brim full of attractions near and far. Well stocked brochure display. Falconry in Helmsley. Walkability: Miles of walking from site.
It a good place to came and look ta the Yorkshire around towns more countryside on a good day you mite see for miles
Just the place for a quiet relaxing break. No pubs or shops in slingsby. One pub has limited opening.Location: 4/5
