I've been with the surgery for several years, and generally they've been very good with myself and my husband. The new appointments system is a frustration. There is no way to book an appointment with a receptionist for anything but the day you call, for any condition including routine monitoring. I suspect this has quite a lot to do with targets set regarding the amount of people being seen on the same day, so I can't see it changing. That said, people who cannot easily have time off during the day and cannot ensure a same-day appointment, but need a routine assessment, are disadvantaged by the inability to plan any appointments in advance. Edit - I got an appointment today - it required a nurse triage first, and when I got to the surgery, it appears you can book an appointment in the future once this has been done. And the GP I saw was really lovely. So it's a more roundabout process. A second issue is the repeat prescriptions - I've not had so many issues with these before. Tried to order a repeat of thyroxine thyroid hormone replacement this morning, which is a medication I've been on for years, only to find I couldn't order this in the usual manner as it was due for review. Great, I haven't had my levels tested for a while - but nobody contacted me to arrange a review, and I need to be taking my regular dose in order to determine if any adjustments are required to it. Criticisms aside, the great majority of the time, the doctors and surgery staff are fab here.
Your staff need serious training. Uzma is a vile individual who doesn’t care about the patients at her surgery. Absolutely diabolical- her tone was disgusting from start to finish. Get a new job if empathy isn’t your thing
Third day on hold for 40 min since 8AM as instructed, again being told no more appointments?! How many people a day do you see?? There has got to be another way!!!! Possibly the worst GP surgery I’ve ever dealt with.
I’m so disgusted at the way I’ve been treated at this surgery I’ve had to move Drs after 60 years !!!!I can’t even be bothered to explain as they really do not care .if your hi king if joining this surgery please do NOT
They wouldn't even give me an appointment when I called up after having a fever for 2.5 weeks. Had to go to the urgent treatment centre who prescribed me antibiotics for an infection. Appalling
Have been trying for 2 weeks to make a telephone appointment with a clinician! Very frustrated but feel so sorry for the receptionists as matter out of their hands. This new system is just making it that much harder for patients to access medical help.
If I could give 0 stars I would. I’ve been treated appallingly by this surgery multiple times, and today I’ve just been shouted at down the phone and hung up on because they didn’t have any appointments. They’re only doing on the day appointments now, and I have an urgent referral from Teledoc but that means nothing apparently. They’ve told everyone in the queue to call back at 8am tomorrow to get an appointment. You also can’t book in with a specific doctor anymore, you just get what you’re given apparently. Soooo many things wrong with this surgery, any complaint is ignored and the receptionists are BEYOND rude. Customer service is severely lacking, as is any ounce of respect for patients. Go to Tanworth Lane or Dorridge if you can, they’re a million times better.
The receptionist was Not helpful, rude, disrespectful and utterly useless. Even tried lying to me. And I couldn't even book an appointment in advance for a 2 minute job of a reading I need. Rubbish front of house team, and judging by the other reviews I'm not sure why they are still in a job????? Lucky to get that 1 star I'm so upset after waiting 1.3 hours on the phone to get told I have to do all that again every day until a space becomes available. Treated like animals!
Update, yesterday, 20th October 2023. My wife visited the surgery and was seen by a Registrar who carried out a full examination, but as she could not prescribe the required antibiotics, said she Doctor will sign it off. The doctor was very busy, go home and return with a water sample, before five, by which time the prescription will be with the Chemist. I returned with the required sample and saw the registrar who said the doctor was still busy but she WOULD sign the prescription off before she finished at seven. In the morning went to the chemist and NO prescription. My wife, is in a lot of pain and discomfort and waiting on 111. I am still waiting for a reply to my complaint, made in June 2023, when I was told by a receptionist that I could not make an appointment for a medication review. My regular medication was last issued on the 11th February 2022. I receive 8 weeks supply. On the 21st March 2022 I underwent a telephone appointment, with a Doctor during which all my regular medication was reviewed. On the 28th March 2022, on reviewing my repeat prescriptions, I noted a request to contact a clinician to arrange a review of my medication. On the basis: GP's are forever complaining how busy they are. Post COVID-19 you cannot see a doctor in person. Patients cannot discuss prescriptions on the telephone. I wrote an informal letter to the Site Manager, pointing out that I have all ready undergone a clinical assessment of all my medication and to amend my repeat prescription to show the review had taken place. I obviously thought this was more practical than wasting my time and the receptionist time in either walking to the surgery or telephoning to make an unnecessary telephone appointment. The surgery did not contact me. I assumed they had amended my records. Apparently not, they did nothing and on trying to renew my prescription, on-line, I am still required to make an appointment. I am now out of medication. This is not the first time I have experienced problems with repeat medication. I know I am not the only one as I have heard patients at the Pharmacy and in the surgery complain about the poor prescription service. Update on this review. I did receive a telephone call from the Surgery and my prescription was released, but the surgery does not use the word sorry or even accept the problem arose from their own inefficiency. My wife missed an appointment to see a nurse, so we attended in person, apologised and was hopeful that she would be fitted in, but no another appointment had to be made, fair enough. I had the calendar with me and I wrote put the appointment on the calendar. Today, we attended the surgery and told my wife had an appointment, which she missed. There was no record of another appointment. There was not one single patient in the waiting room. The receptionist did not make an attempt to see if a nurse was free, it was a case of just book another appointment. Well we could not do that as we did not have the calendar with us. It is a case of going down in person, next week, booking another appointment and having a written record off the receptionist so we have something in writing. I would not have written the appointment down, in person, at the time. We would not have attended the surgery on a whim.
My family and I have been with this surgery for years, I can honestly say they are amazing. The service we always receive from the receptionists to the nurses and doctors is outstanding. Always five star service. Thank you for excellent work you do.
