Mixed reviews about this place. The very first time I visited the food was incredible. The second time I visited, we were served chicken when we asked for vegetarian dishes - we were all vegetarian so to be served chicken which we accidentally ate was appalling - they also added on a service charge when the service wasn’t so great. The most recent time I visited the food and service was spot on. The salt & pepper chips are tasty and so are the soft spring onion noodles. Suppose it depends on when you go, sometimes the food & service is good - other times it’s not.
Not so bad, not so good. This was my second visit. The dumpling starters were excellent. The "chicken kung po" was sweet rather than hot as described in the menu. The Vermicelli were good but they did taste a bit different as compared to last visit. Cost for 2 ppl with 3 dishes and 1 drink £38.
Amazing food as always. Great restaurant with a fantastic menu. Service wasn't the friendliest today but that didn't take away from how great the food was.
Sam's review: Tl;dr: Enjoyable food, quick service, halal food justifies the price. Arrival Visited with a party of 2 at 7PM. The main restaurant was fully booked out, but we were instead seated at the adjacent restaurant Wokooshii- a sister restaurant. I appreciated the decision, meaning we were sat down promptly. Service I had no issue with service, but likewise had nothing to praise about it, besides our chairs being pulled out for us, which was a nice gesture. The food arrived reasonably quickly. Food We ordered 3 starters. The squid was well-cooked and lightly seasoned. The second was Lai Wong Bau: aglutinous rice ball with a coconut custard centre. It was well made: soft, warm and gooey. Whilst it felt more like a dessert, it was very tasty. The coconut custard wasn't too strong a taste, which for my coconut disliking palate was appreciated. Our final starter was prawn meat in fu pei wrap. It reminded me of traditional Asian hot pot dumplings. We opted to not go for mains as we were going to sample other restaurants too. Final Thoughts The fact that Yang Sing Cathay is halal was a big selling point for us. Our only complaint would be price, but considering the cost of halal ingredients this was justified. I'd recommend Yang Sing Cathay to others.
We had our 120th AGM here this year and it was the perfect venue for it. All staff promptly served our food and made sure we had our drinks topped up. Customer service was excellent and we really love the interior of the restaurant. A range of delicious dishes to choose from.

I have been here a few times and never had any problems. Staff are always very pleasant. However on the last occasion the duck was obviously very old and had been sat around long enough to take on the consistency of a leather belt. I made the staff aware of the problem and they offered to exchange the dish but ended up taking it off our bill instead. I would visit again, however I would say avoid quiet times of the day to make sure your food is freshly prepared.
Excellent! Can’t fault it! Staff are very friendly and accommodating, they don’t have quarter duck on the menu but if you ask they’ll be happy to do it for you. Service is very fast and the food is of the highest quality. I very highly recommend the chicken satay and the beef in black bean sauce. Will definitely be coming back.
Don't ever try and send food back in this place! My friend had the crispy beef and really did not like it. The meat was not crispy but rock hard and the sauce wasn't what she was expecting. We asked if we could change the dish to something else when speaking to the manager and he argued with us, grabbed our spoon to chop into a piece and said "you asked for crispy you got crispy" and then walked away from our table. She even tried eating more as she felt awkward but was really not enjoying the dish. We then called him back to say we didnt want the dish anymore and asked to take it off our bill. The manager then argued with us more, before taking the dish away and telling us not to come back! We even had the owner come over and say "you cant just cancel a meal just because you don't like it"! Outrageous customer service! You should not be made to feel so bad if you do not enjoy the food! I can definitely say we will NOT be back!
Very disappointed with this restaurant. I spent over £200 on our meal. When I got home, I checked the receipt and find out we have been overcharged! Our only table only had 7 pints, you charged us for 9 £4.99 each. And we only had 3 glasses of wine, you charged for 4 £7.50 each. £17.48 overcharge! Very very sneaky by this restaurant. I tried calling the restaurant, but there was no answer. I would be happy to change my review if this can be resolved? Otherwise, you have one very unhappy customer and I will be sure to tell everyone of my poor experience!
