Duty Free Edinburgh: Booze, Beauty, and More Await While Edinburgh Airport may be compact, its Duty Free shop packs a punch, especially for whisky lovers and gift-seekers. Here's what I found: Plenty of Whisky Choices: Whether you're a single malt aficionado or a blended whisky enthusiast, you'll likely find something to tempt your taste buds. Their selection encompasses both popular brands and local gems. Perfume Paradise: From classic fragrances to trendy new scents, the perfume section caters to diverse preferences. You might even unearth a hidden gem at a competitive price. Gift Galore: Beyond whisky and perfume, the Duty Free offers a variety of gifts, including souvenirs, chocolates, and travel essentials. Pricing: While I can't guarantee their prices are unbeatable compared to other destinations, the selection and convenience they offer are definite advantages. Final Verdict: Overall, Edinburgh Airport's Duty Free presents a good option for travelers seeking whisky, perfume, or gifts. Whether it's the best value depends on your specific needs and budget. Consider comparing prices elsewhere to make an informed decision.
New self service checkouts have been installed. These make no sense at airports where youre already laden down with bags. Where before you rarely had to queue now it is a mess. Two staff standing about self service check out. Queue at main till where only one staff member was serving at time of my visit .Asked if someone else could serve and said "someone over there can help you" . Good customer service at any shop is to ring bell for staff to go to check outs and serve when busy.
The worst service ever! I had a very frustrating experience because of them coming back to Norway. The officers at the airport in Oslo confiscated my bottle of gin because the guy at the Duty free in Edinburgh didn’t put the receipt inside the sealed bag!! I mean, this is the basic they need to know, it’s unbelievable!! Don’t go there if you don’t want to loose your purchases!
They don’t use correct duty-free bags for international travel to the US, so if you get alcohol, it will all be complicated. Horrible system.
Selection is ok, just no minis small bottles or tasting sets. Real issue is the price, more than 90% of the bottles are more expensive than in normal stores with tax both UK and non-UK locations, what is the point of tax free if it's more expensive than with tax?
What a dreadful place. You are forced to walk through a smelly, narrow overcrowded convolated lane with touts either side trying to persuade you to buy overpriced tat. I would recommend avoiding but you can't.
Prices are okay but selection is limited. The amount of gin available is high but prices on single malts are not as competitive as other stores. The tobacco selection is dire to say the least. Their cigar selection is mainly cafe cremes and meharis neither of which anyone would even bother storing in a bin let alone a humidor. The perfume and aftershave have great offers but finding them can be difficult as they are often mixed in with vodka displays. A lot of stock seems to be lacking, a lot of the liqueurs were not available and as a result I just decided it be best to spend a little extra in my destination instead of buying anything at the airport
Quiet and good service! In general, it is not crowded! I recommend!
If I could give no stars I would. Staff rude on self check out.
Felt the two staff stationed at the self-check out counter to be having double standards when dealing with Asian as compared to dealing with a customer who is white. They were so polite, friendly and helpful towards the customer after me, offering to help without her even asking. But for me, it was a complete opposite, there were no smiles and hint of friendliness at all and when they were telling me that cash is not accepted, the tone wasn't exactly nice. And the fact that this duty free shop doesn't accept cash is also a huge disappointment as I wanted to spend all my pounds before heading back.
