My family have been going to this chip shop for years and would have recommended it to anyone who would ask. I will start with the positives. Nice chips. SOME friendly staff. Negatives Missed items on several occasions, Impatience when you ask for a receipt and ask them to tick the order off as they have failed to put all items in the bag. Portion decreases Huge price increase Prices seem to alter each week even though you get the same order. Such a shame as this was such a lovely chip shop. Utterly frustrating once you get home to find a good portion of your order has been missed!!! Once you make the call to let them know.” oh yes sorry we realised when you left, if you would like to nip back in” Not so easy when you are not around the corner. If you increase the price then decrease the sizes customers will notice. I doubt they are bothered but it’s safe to say no family member of mine or friends if they ask will be using this place again.
Passed here numerous times and always seen big queues which I took as a sign of a good quality place. Unfortunately the time I did visit I was very disappointed with the quality of the food. I had fish n chips with mushy peas. The fish was overcooked and rather dry. The peas were more like a thick puree. Compared to other fish n chip shops I have visited, I felt disappointed with the potion size for the price and the overall quality made this visit a disappointing one.
Have bought from this Chippy for years, however, in last 12 months it has gone steeply down hill. Portion sizes much smaller small chicken meat and chips even getting tighter on the salad and sauce. Have used this place for the last time. Expensive and over rated now. They are not fussed in selling re-heats too. Yes, expenses are on the increase, but customer satisfaction seems to be rapidly on the decrease.
Really nice food, really nice and friendly staff, there was a queue which is always a good sign, and we was served very quickly, very busy place and well worth a visit, we definitely will be using again,Food: 5/5
One of the best chippies in Nottingham. I've been coming to this place for 15 years and it's never let me down. They do these awesome little battered chicken bits like why doesn't anywhere else do these things they are amazing! Staff are always friendly and the food is always fresh and tasty. Good value and real clean inside. Highly recommended.

Totally discussed been going here a while now great service and food was spot on till recently when I was getting served another member of the public came in and ordered she wanted the same chicken as I was ordering so I was told to wait because she was having that so haven't been back for a few weeks went today and things haven't changed ordered chicken bites again and I can see why she was being a little sly when she was wrapping them she didnt want show me as there wasn't much to show got home to eat my dinner soo small pieces and dry not very happy at all especially when I'm paying over £20+ when I go in everytime maybe take my business elsewhere in future
As of 23rd July 2022 visited Wollaton Fish Bar, at 18:15. Very disappointing today. Used to be a great F&C shop,great quality and piping hot and good portions. But quality has gone down so has the portions sizes and MASSIVE price hikes. According to their online Google menu a large Cod was £4.90 now after calling them today is now £7.80. A small cod was £3.30 now and £5.50. They said the menu images on Google are wrong so why do they not remove them! Their large chips were more like small when opened so they have cut portions sizes, so the quantity and quality has gone down and prices have massively increased, large chips used to be £2.90 now £4.40, and peas also gone up from 0.90p to £1.20p. Also the small fish weighed in at 271grams and large was weighed in at 274grams, was told its down to the batter, what an excuse, just 3 grams difference between small fish and large, what is a medium size then 272.5g? The fish sizes also looked the same, will try and post pictures soon. So just a short time ago cost it cost £12.05p bigger portions today cost £18.80, that's a massive 56% increase. WOW Wow.... Cheaper now to go for a pub meal now. Won't be going again for a very long time, these places. If they have increased their prices and reduced sizing so substantially will not survive and close, so they need to watch out as people will vote with their feet as the cost of living tightens, as going out and buying a take away will become a luxury. Nearly £20 for 2 F&Cs and one small peas!! Conclusion - will NOT be returning back to WFB neither to any other F&c shops if this is the prices they are charging now, how much will it go up by too? Would rather sit down in a pub and get served for the same price or less as pubs are more competitive. On top of this the product was fairly cold, just warm..certainly I am sorry, will start to feel the pinch and go down hill, and they will get their karma as less and less people will purchase from them and other F&C shops.. I personally can see some closing. What a shame... Mr Williams
My brother got me this chip cob from Wollaton fish bar. The chips were nice all be abit sweaty but the cob was squashed and falling to pieces it was that drenched with oil. Not enough sauce used. Should take better care wrapping and let the chips drain. Won't buy from here again!Food: 1/5
It's the best fish bar in Nottingham but goodness me. The prices have shot upFood: 5/5
