Very friendly host. Authentic Ethiopian food. We had tried veg and non veg platters along with Lamb short ribs. All were tasting at home. Home away from Ethiopia. Highly recommended
I recently dined at Wolkite Restaurant and it was an exceptional experience. The manager was incredibly warm and welcoming. The customer service was outstanding with attentive and knowledgeable staff overall making the atmosphere great. The food was absolutely delicious, I had the Goden Tibs and Special Kitfo both tasted amazingly - 10/10. I highly recommend Wolkite for its tasty Ethiopian Cuisine and its fantastic service. I will definitely be returning!!
Unfortunately the service let the experience down. The staff were nice but it just took ages to get anything to eat. It was about an hour after we ordered. That said the food was good - hearty and tasty. We got the mixed vegetarian player which was plenty and the variety was nice. Despite the wait I’ll probably go back and try some other bits from the menu.
Very special. We organised a meal here a few weeks ago for us and 15 or so of our friends. The food and drink was all superb, and we enjoyed trying lots of new things, including honey wine, false banana bread and coffee with salt and butter! Yeshak and his colleagues were so warm and welcoming - nothing was too much trouble, they were just delighted to share their culture and cuisine with us. Our gluten-free and vegan friends were delighted to discover a cuisine that suits their needs so well. Some of our friends who were with us that day and are lucky enough to live nearby have already been back. Would recommend whole-heartedly.
If you’re looking for a bit of an adventure, this is a great idea. We took the special kitfo minced meat with collard greens and cottage cheese with herbs and the chicken doro awaze tibs with onions and tomatoes. Everything is served on top of injera, a sort of sourdough pancake. You eat with your hands and it’s really meant for sharing. It’s simple food, but very tasty. We tried their house made honey wine: also super interesting. Definitely some of the most unique cuisine you’ll find in London!
Ordered the Mahberawi for 2 and the portions were huge! The food tasted amazing and I'd definitely recommend ordering the set menu. Yeshak was very friendly and welcoming to us. This is a nice, cozy restaurant that's tucked away in a quiet residential setting. 100% recommended, especially if you're a fan of Ethiopian Jazz music!Food: 5/5
The flavors were exactly as I remembered from Ethiopia. We chose this restaurant among the other ones in London because of the location and the variety of choices on their menu. The vegetarian food was amazing and I'd recommend it to non-vegetarians there were 5 of us, 2 non-vegetarians. Everyone was lovely and the manager/owner kept checking up on us without being annoying. The food came out relatively quickly and when there was a misunderstanding about a specific dish which had a meat and vegetarian version, they changed it for us as soon as we told them the problem. Vegetarian options: I highly recommend getting the vegetarian sampler if you're on your own. For 5 people, we ordered 2 of the veggies sets for 2 and an extra Alicha Kik Wot, which probably wasn't needed in hindsight. They give you plenty of njeera as well.
Wolkite Restaurant was a delightful experience. From the warm welcome to the delicious Ethiopian cuisine, every moment was exceptional. The attention to detail and outstanding service truly impressed me. I can't wait to return to Wolkite for another memorable meal. It has become a new favorite for me! Vegetarian options: What stood out to me, apart from the charming ambiance and authentic Ethiopian flavors, was their exceptional range of vegetarian options. I often struggle to find restaurants that offer more than just a token veggie dish. At Wolkite, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality of vegetarian choices available. From hearty lentil stews to flavorful vegetable dishes, there was something for every palate. It's refreshing to see a restaurant that not only caters to vegetarians but also celebrates the richness of vegetarian Ethiopian cuisine. Wolkite Restaurant has definitely earned a special place in my list of go-to dining spots in London. Parking: One thing that added to the convenience of the visit was the ample street pay and display parking available nearby. It made my dining experience even more enjoyable, knowing that parking was hassle-free.
I had a wonderful evening here! The lady took care of my allergy so well and she recommended the delicious fish dish. She’s super thoughtful and lovely! Their mango juice is really good hahaha my friend ordered two of it!
Incredible food. I had the vegetarian platter for one person. There was a perfect portion to try each of the items. The dish comes with a lot of injera the bread/pancake you eat with and I could only finish about 50% of it. You’ll definitely feel full after leaving here. Service is great and staff are very friendly and helpful. 3 points for Liverpool womens’ team and a very satisfied stomach after. I will be back!
