This was my first time trying Ethiopian food, and I loved it. The place is authentic and very cutely designed. There was old Ethiopian music playing quietly on the speakers and the place was quiet and peaceful, great relaxing atmosphere. There was one lady taking our orders and serving us and she was super lovely. I will definitely be coming back as I loved the food, service and atmosphere of the place.
Fantastic food at super cheap prices. I'm going back again and again. I have the selection of vegan food which included spinach, chickpeas, lentils and dhal. All had distinct flavour and the injera is fantastic! I love the lady who runs it, who is funny and super kind. It is a gem of a restaurant in Islington. Vegetarian options: And vegan options
100% recommended! quiet and relaxing place. First time trying Ethiopian food and LOVED it. Shoutout to the lady running the whole restaurant by herself, she was really helpful with the ordering and very funny tooFood: 5/5
A wonderful treat to have met, been served and cooked for by the elegant and wise lady Getenesh. Thank you for taking the time to describe the dishes, the spices and health benefits. Spotlessly clean and delicious food cooked with love for us. She was happy to see clean plates, thank you for a beautiful culinary experience.
Lovely food, lovely lady, lovely place. We were the only ones there for our entire dinner, but we still had a nice time. A fantastic vegetarian meal. Vegetarian options: Half the menu is vegetarian with some great options.
We were welcomed and made to feel at home right away. This was a really good experience, I felt like I was in the owners living room and having a real Ethiopian experience. The food was tasty and had a real home cooked feel about it. The owner knew all her customers and did everything by herself which was very impressive. A real cultural experience and hopefully will be back for the coffee soon. Thank you
Finally visited Kokeb Ethiopian Restaurant on Roman Way N7 after passing it on my way home numerous times. I’m on a mission to try all the local Ethiopian & Eritrean Restaurants. I had the House special which consisted of Key Minchet Abish spicy beef mince, Ye-Misir Key Wot red lentils, Ye-Alicha Kik Wot yellow split peas & spinich. All of it had a fiery tastiness to it she asks how spicy you would like it. The lady serving was really sweet & attentive, felt like going to your aunties house for dinner. No Tej unfortunately. Overall a good dining experience, I recommend it.
An absolute gem of a local restaurant! The place is run by an amazing woman. Beautiful Ethiopian food. She can always recommend great dishes to try. A fun and delicious option for date night or dinner out with a few friends.
Really caring host very informative and great great dishes!! Repetition of great not accidental! Speciality bread was amazing took left overs for breakfast Food: 5/5
The owner of this restaurant is so lovely, and the food is excellent. Gluten free injera is standard.Food: 5/5
