I must say when I first walked in I was raising an eyebrow because as we were seated and I was being told the specials before I had a chance to even sit down. But after that I have to say the food was outstanding and the service was great. We went on a Saturday evening but I've definitely going back on a Sunday to have a roast dinner because I think It will be amazing!
Nice pub and good staff Meal was pretty poor the marrow burger was so incredibly dry and well done but no one asked how to be done so maybe it was my fault. Chips weren’t amazing So for a pricey average burger. Then dessert that was a few crumbs of crumble one very tiny pear and a melting ice cream was not Good way to finish and so pricey Probably would not return for food
Sunday lunch for 4 adults and the meal was superb, especially the crab starter and roast beef. Excellent service from Kevin and meal from Jamie. We have been previously, but believe it was even better this time, so much so we've just booked for their other restaurant, The Globe in Wells-Next-The-Sea for tomorrow night. A lovely atmosphere and thoroughly enjoyable experience - thanks to all at the Wiverton Bell.
On returning for our second visit having had a wonderful meal last summer. The staff as usual were nice but the risotto however was undercooked and so we asked for it to be returned and reheated. When it returned for the second time, I had clumps in my risotto showing it was not stirred. To charge £19 for risotto and not serve it cooked nor stirred at minimum is expected and to then make it salty and underwhelming in taste left us all disappointed on Mother’s Day. The risotto we had last summer was spot on. Sadly standards seem hard to attain..
Overall experience was okay. The staff were attentive and lovely. Sadly the food did let the whole experience down, with flavours lacking and less than adequate portion sizing on the more expensive meals had cod loin but needed additional chips to not making it look like just a starter but had no real technicality to the presentation swiming in liquid. The risotto also had an overpowering flavour of beef stock very salty and had to be reheated. An improvement would also be to add additional lighting over each table as saw a few other tables pulling out phone torches just to read the menu. Would also recommend a revision of the desert menu as none of the party wanted any of the choices and lacked variety in a small pool of options.
Excited to be staying at our favourite place to eat in Norfolk- website promised some things which we realised on arriving were not included- bit disappointed expected a much higher standard. Our tv was broken and needed replacing- manageress seemed surprised it hadn’t been replaced! No dressing gowns promised on the website manageress seemed surprised it hadn’t been taken off which would have been ideal as breakfast is served in the room. No heating as described- electric plug in heater- I was cold in the morning with no dressing gown eating my breakfast sat in the window ! Overall we did enjoy our stay and in a perfect location for us. A cooked breakfast would have been nice. We’d read some poor reviews as business taken over last year which we felt were unfair. Other restaurant in Holt gave bad review to us. We hope the Wiveton continues to be our favourite. Rooms: Room ok but not as described on website- told since new owners some items removed but website not updated- would have liked a cooked breakfast option. Food & drinks: We booked for a Monday evening luckily restaurant was open - closed Tue and Weds. very busy evening good to have a special plus free drinks which we had- very pleased with atmosphere and service- very reasonable
All great, the staff all worked hard as they were very busy. There is clearly good management in place. Perhaps they could have done with an extra person. Breakfast was very high quality, unfortunately there was no milk in our room so we couldn’t make an early morning drink.Rooms: 5/5
Rooms are fairly large however this is were it ends breakfast is a joke,is brought to the room can be upto 9.15 before you get it and is so spartan it,s not worth having, evening food is such a limited range and is standard burger fish and chips steak etc, don,t believe the image portray on the web site this is only upmarket in the eyes of the group owners, suggest avoidance there are other pubs in the area that do rooms and food far better that this, would not return! Food & drinks: Very poor, extremely liminted range, if you feel you must stay for any longer than a day you will run out of food options
Room was beautifully decorated, lovely warm. I had a lovely 3 corse dinner, unfortunately husband found beef little fatty .All staff were really friendly and helpful .Definitely will be returning Rooms: Beautifully decorated, warm very comfortable Walkability: Wonderful walks straight from The Bell Food & drinks: Good choice of food for all, very nicely presented Vegetarian options: Good choice for vegetarian, imaginative Parking: Lots of parking
Being Mother's Day the pub was very busy when we arrived but we ch3cked in quickly and were shown to our rather stunning room, the Starlight. We had booked dinner at 6:00 and were able to have drinks outside the pub first thanks to the weather, there were also tables free 8ndide as well. The food was of the excellent standard we have come to expect from this group of hotels as was the bed for a good nights sleep. Rooms: Excellent bed and bathroom. Seperate sea5ing area Parking: Car park avaiable yards from 5he pub
