A great pub for a drink and food. Friendly bar staff & welcomed our dog Kylie. Open fires made the pub warm & welcoming. Drinks were good & food excellent with a “deal” menu that was very well priced, the food was very good & really good value. Would recommend this pub for drinks & food Minstrel the Whippet with the broken paw Food & drinks: Excellent value from the set menu the whitebait & pate were plentiful compered to other places & the fresh pineapple with the gammon was really good. The burger was huge & they certainly didn’t scrimp on the portions of chips. Service was really good checking in that our food was all good.
Been here on more than a few occasions. Food has always been very good, beer is looked after with local and mainstream beers on pump. Not over expensive sitting about average for price in my experience. Enjoyed my visit here every time.
Dropped in for a lunchtime meal. Jackfruit & sweet potato curry was delicious followed by an equally wonderful trifle. Staff were attentive and polite. The restaurant is a hidden gem. Highly recommended. I will be back.Service: 5/5
Lovely pub and very friendly staff. Service at times though a bit slow. Disappointed as quite a few of the craft gins on the menu were not available. Food was very good and couldn't fault itService: 3/5

Fantastic, im down here for the weekend from Staffordshire, just arrived so was looking for somewhere to eat, and found this gem, let me start with the fantastic staff,brilliant service , friendly and very welcoming, the food, four of us opted for the 2 course deal, three of us had a starter and main the other had main, desert. I had the pate starter , which could have been a main course , the size of it and had the house burger with fries for my main they were absolutely delicious, and very reasonably priced, but dont take my word try it its a must ,we will be going again before we go home, brilliant.

Decent pub, not much to offer in Holt in comparison though. Has a pool table which is always good to pass some time.Service: 4/5
Bar staff were super friendly and accommodating. I couldn't fault them. Wait staff were struggling to cope with the lunch demand. Unfortunately, this was evident in the manner in which they spoke to us after we asked where we might sit. The food was a mixed bag. The soup and Haloumi dishes were delicious but the croque monsieur was not made the French way and was stodgy and unpalatable. The chips were overcooked and tasted fatty. The wait staff did redeem themselves with checking in on whether the food was okay after we had finished our meals. It was dog friendly, always a plus! And warm so a great pitstop out of the elements. I would absolutely come back for a beverage.
This place was my local, spent quite a sum of money in here. But the service is appalling with some staff very unpleasant, rude and cannot read or address the room with the right customer service approach. Some members of staff feel the need to get into your personal confident conversation,and a rude input! To unprofessional! Very unpleasant when you walk into the pub,the atmosphere isn't a nice ambiance as it was. Alot of locals agree.
