Brilliant cemetery well reserved some old graves this is my nan and grandad
My dear Mom and Dad are interned here in a cremation plot. The Cemetery is a peaceful place but unfortunately it's not as well maintained as it once was. I have rated Witton Cemetery 4 Stars as sometimes the litter bins are full to the brim, or overflowing. Rubbish has to be left on the floor, next to the bin and gets blown around. Having said that, I realise that such a large cemetery takes a lot of maintenance.
I went today Sunday 16th June and I was disgusted of the state the grass is that long you cant see your grave stone. The water tap was broken. The bins overflowing it's appalling.. not a pleasure to visit my parents grave anymore.
Tidy it up!!! The bins needs emptying, the grass needs mowing and new grass put down. It's a disgrace.
We visited two graves today, one on the main stretch by the Chapel and the other further back towards Brookvale Road. We were so upset that in the 20 years we have been visiting and tending my parents grave, never have we seen it look such a mess! It is not being maintained, grass verges overgrown , full of weeds, the trees need a good pruning, roads and pathways full of holes. There is an accident waiting to happen. I have read on the website that the office is closed indefinitely. Why is this? Birmingham City Council what is happening? It is an absolute disgrace and a terrible eyesore and i left feeling very sad indeed. Sandra Simmonds Evesham
Our part of the graveyard is well maintained, however not all areas are. The toilets were all closed when we went and the portable toilet was filthy.
This cemetery is a disgrace! I visit a few graves on college road side. It is very neglected! Overgrown, uneven and dangerous underfoot and numerous potholes on the paths. I complained by email about these issues to the bereavement services 4 weeks ago. I’ve had no response from them. I emailed them again last Monday asking them to reply and still no response as yet! I didn’t want to give a star rating.
Telephoned cemetery today to find out why my mother's grave after 17 months hasn't been turfed yet I have to say the person on the phone showed no empathy at all and had a couldn't careless attitude and was very snotty and kept talking over me I think paying £200 for the grave to be turfed I have a right to ask why it still hasn't been turfed and not get a rude person on the end of the phone. It's a disgrace. If I could give zero stars I would.
This is where my grandmother is hopefully at rest. Even though the cemetery is surrounded by houses and a fly over whenever I've gone it is always so peaceful. It seems strange to write this but it's a nice place to visit. The downside of the cemetery is that in certain areas, it is quite clearly rundown. Quite a few graves and fallen into disrepair and it's a great shame to see that. I wish more care was taken with them. And that's why I've given such a low score. Sorry.
Place is a disgrace giant holes in the road to get round, grass like a unkept field, water taps not working, and now no office to keep an eye on whats going on. Awful !!
