Wing Kee Hong Kong Style Cafe @ Chinatown, Newcastle Upon Tyne Being introduced to this spot by a friend, we were looking forward to getting food similar to home. This restaurant happens to be one of the few that serves Chicken Rice/ Duck Rice while having the meat displayed through glass panels like back at home in Malaysia. With a wide variety of Dim Sum, we ordered the chicken spring rolls and also the chicken feet in black bean sauce. The spring rolls were crisp and nice. The chicken feet was surprisingly delicious and spicy! I’ve never tried chicken feet before in my life, so this being the first time was actually pretty cool We ordered Chicken rice and Duck rice. The rice was oiled and seasoned nicely. The chicken, while being on the dry side, still was enjoyable. Portions, as always, are so big that I couldn’t finish my meal and had to order a takeaway. Complemented with Hong Kong Iced Milk Tea, the meal was really filling. The milk tea was lovely! The meal costs 27 £ for the both of us. Pretty worth it, especially for such a hearty meal!
Food was nice. Beef balls not the same one would normally be served. Also had the Yung chow fried rice, soup dumplings and chicken feet which all tasted good. Got my ice lemon tea fix too. Would come again.
Excellent GEM of a find! We got the set menu £15 each... make sure your hungry!! So much food served. Worth every penny. Authentic Reasonable Will definitely return!
I've visited Wing Kee a few times now and every visit has been great. The food is simple but tasty, portion sizes are plentiful and the price point is affordable cheaper than a lot of restaurants around Newcastle. My only slight niggle about the menu is the lack of vegetarian options. The service and atmosphere are average - the decor is very simple, though the BTS posters scattered around are fabulous! I will visit again in future
Had a wonderful late night last minute meal here when almost everywhere else on stowell Street chinatown was closing. The roast meats particularly the chicken which comes with the garlic sauce is delicious. Generous portions and reasonable prices Service was great here too Can recommend
I have been coming here for years. I could rely on it for Cantonese staples such as BBQ and noodle soups. Wing Kee was empty tonight, on a Friday night, and I should have taken the hint. There has obviously been a significant change of kitchen staff. I hate to write this review because the front of house staff are lovely, but Chinese BBQ shouldn’t be rubbery and swimming in fat. It shouldn’t look like this. So long, Wing Kee. I will miss you.
Nothing fancy but great for that hit of Chinese food at a reasonable price. Food was very good for the price. We had a beef dish, veggies in garlic sauce and rice. It was late so we didn't order the HK style milk tea, but they were brewing it and the ceylon scents were heavenly. I would like to try their milk tea. Their service was also faultless- fast, patient and friendly.
To be honest, food isn’t tasty, especially the “three combination of roast meat”. Decoration is very Hong Kong style.
The food was tasty. We went in two days in a row. However, we ordered but was served , we asked them to check if they have served the wrong dish but they said no. Clearly they were wrong, I would be concerned if they don’t know the difference between and as a restaurant.Recommended dishesPrawn Dumplings
I am one kind of person who eats only chicken and Veggies. So there are very less options for me. So I asked then to serve Stir fried Noodles in Chicken which was really good so ended up orrdering one more. Also I could find Veg/chicken Gyoza as starter in menu card. That was worth 3.8 pounds for 6 pieces of Chicken gyoza. Added Suggestion try gyoza with chilli sauce it taste really good.
