Lovely little cafe in the middle of Wimbledon Common - the perfect place to stop for a cup of tea or coffee in the middle or end of a long walk. There is a large car park and toilet facilities. They have a wide range of brunch and lunch options, would definitely recommend the scampi and chips. So many lovely doggies come here - today it was like some sort of spaniel convention!! I just love the windmill towering over the cafe, it evokes feelings and imagery of the olden days… just excellent. Only prob today was the hot chocolate wasn’t very good, just tasted like warm milk Will still keep coming back though ‼ looking out for Wombles!
Friendly staff, wait for food isn’t too long even in busy times. Toilets are clean and functional. Plenty of sheltered outdoor seating perfect for summer. Food is a little pricey depending on how much you are buying but portions are good sized. Have to mention how amazing the victoria sponge cake was, honestly one of the best i’ve had!
It's nice to have a place to grab a tea on the common, but I wish they had higher standards when it comes to their baked goods. The croissant and scone we had were rather on the dry side and the strawberry jam for the scone had not a single piece of discernible strawberry in it.
A busy cafe with options to get a quick hot drink and a snack to takeaway or something to eat either inside or out. We ate lasagne meat and veggie followed by cake from their rather delicious looking selection - carrot cake and red velvet. Food was a good price and tasty. This is by Wimbledon windmill and part of the common. Plenty of parking. Toilets. Eating outside with your dog is an option.
All the staff that I encountered over a period of a few days, were absolutely fabulous and very helpful. The food is excellent and not at all overpriced. There was no rushing around and getting flustered, extremely nice and relaxing experiences each time. I couldn't recommend highly enough
Came back here for the first time in a couple of years. Lovely little cafe serving great, homemade food and drinks. Disappointing that they're not serving a full menu at the moment - their avocado and prawn salad is a treat but sadly not available - but my choice of homemade chilli nachos went down a treat... Highly recommended.
Beautiful people, kind and professional. I like spending time there to work or read a book. Fantastic atmosphere and good food. It's a magical place to me. Highly recommendedFood: 5/5
The Windmill Tearooms are in a wonderful location, and could be great. The food is fine if basic and the prices are not too bad. But it really needs to managed by professionals! Today mid morning on a grey Friday was typical. A 5 minute queue to place an order for 2 coffees & 2 bacon rolls. Followed by a 15 minute wait for the coffee to be served and another 10 minutes for the bacon rolls. Half an hour is FAR too long - and it wasn't even that busy! A proper, professional caterer would invest in the facilities and establish the processes to take, process and deliver orders in a fraction of that time. As it is, the Windmill Tearooms appear totally overwhelmed. If you just want a tea or coffee, you're better advised to go to the Golf Club bar around the corner!
Worked here many years ago so looked forward to returning. The tearooms always made their own cakes so I was pleased to see they still do and my friend declared the bread pudding a winner. It was busy, there was a park run on, but I was disappointed with the service. Food orders shouted out from the counter, coffee served in cups without saucers, tables left uncleared. That, along with feral children, meant the visit was not what we'd hoped for. Bit more upmarket cafe than Tearooms.
On a freezing cold day when it’s below freezing and I’m stood shivering my backside off, all I asked for was a little hot water; no tea, no coffee just simply hot water and I get told rather rudely that they charge for it! Utterly disgraceful and completely money oriented place.
