This was a great terminus for arrival and departure, with a long platform for the services coming all the way from Manchester Airport! Departure boards are up to date and the greenery is nice in the spring heat, waiting rooms are spacious too. However the station itself could be bigger since it became overcrowded when exiting, cleanliness is enforced though.
I don't think it's the kind of thing that a lot of people really noticed, but I adore this little train station. With the emerald serenity of the lake district in the background, the trains glide elegantly to the station, and the station house contains a lot of useful information on idyllic trips in and around the Lakes. Twice, I sought refuge from the cascading rain inside the pleasant illuminated haven provided by the station. It's soothing and clean and deserves more credit than it probably receives.
Windermere Should be on the bucket list for those who want to enjoy nature whilst hiking through the wonderful trails . This versatile place like many others in the lake district offers something for everybody. There is amazing food , shops , pubs and of course it's a heaven for those who love to hike or catch wind in their sail ...
England's biggest lake is well worth visiting, whether you want the bustle of Bowness or the quiet western shore, there's something for everyone.nnIt's a shame recent sewage spills have damaged the lake so much, it's still beautiful and it doesn't smell, however I wouldn't swim in it anymore.nnWell worth taking a boat trip from Bowness or even your own boat out from the public slipway at Ferry Nab.
Massive shout out to Andy at the station for helping me plan out my journey and going above and beyond for me today! I really appreciate your kindness and patience with me and even telling me the road I needed for journey once I was off the train! Such a legend!!!! Thank you so much again! Xx
