Fantastic time hiring a boat for an hour. Third year in a row we have done it and it's always excellent. Book online as it does get fully booked. Easy, swift service once we arrive and great staff. Highly recommend!
Just absolutely loved this experience, upon the advice given we booked our hire in advance, do the same to avoid disappointment. We also took our picnic hamper and we had a feast! It was marvellous and a great way to enjoy Windermere Lake and spend the morning for a couple of hours. The lovely staff gave us all of the necessary safety information, where you can travel and where best to enjoy our picnic, and it was perfect. Thank you so much, next time in the lakes we shall come again.
Booked a 9.30am slot for 1 hour. Plenty of time, the 2 hour option would be great in the summer when it's hot, lovely views, great feeling being able to self drive the boats.nnLarge open water, great sun trap when it's hot and very low prices, boats are easy to use and from arrival, was on the water in 5 minutes.nnLovely staff, speedy great service, great prices and will definitely be making this a regular hobby
Headed back to Bowness this week so had to have another go at hiring one of these small electric launches. You can pick these up from a couple of places – the beach which has a terrifying amount of geese or the pier, over by the amusements place. Opted for the pier, for the geese are not my friend.nnThe boats cost £42 for an hour and they also take a refundable £40 deposit- presumably the latter is in case you sink their launch, or crash it into a ferry.nnDriving the little boat is quite easy – there is a power lever and a steering wheel. The rules say stay 30m away from the shore and other vessels, although in practice you do see these little boats go much closer. Buoys mark the shallows.nnOnce you have your little boat, an hour is enough time to go a good distance up the lake, towards the castle, and back again. The lake was not particularly busy on this occasion, but even if it is, there is plenty of room to avoid other craft. The ferries I would stay well clear of, for they are going much faster.nnNo eating or drinking on the boat, otherwise a small picnic maybe with some delicious roasted meats? and some beers would be ideal.nnYou have to wear a life jacket on board, which makes sense – some of the boats were more raucous, so they probably do have people fall in from time to time.nnI’d quite like to bring a deerdog aboard a small boat but I think I’d probably fall in :D
What a great experience. We walked up on the day and booked to take boat out instantly. Customer service was great we were provided life jackets and given a brief safety talk before being directed to the boat. We were shown how to operate and how to dock when returned. We were then left to take the boat off on a little journey round the lake. We only booked 1hour as were limited on time but was plenty to get a good distance uo the lake and get some lovely views of the countryside and a glimpse of Wrey castle. You can take your dog onboard aswell. The boat was clean and easy to operate and we will be returning to take one for a longer cruise around the river.
