I have had the opportunity to live and work all around the world and settled in the California Bay Area Silicon Valley. My journey all started here when it was called Chippenham Technical College. I am forever thankful to my tutor, Viv Sherman, and all the other professors who helped me raise my potential. When you find yourself flipping burgers or serving tea thinking "this is not for me", you can do yourself a favor by starting here on your journey.
My posting is in response to a interview I attended last year. The reason for posting isn't down to sour grapes as the saying goes. But my experience in the recruitment process. Firstly I have lot's of experience in the position I applied for and answered every question, drawing on my experience and skills. I also applied under the disability confidentl process as well. There we're 3 on the panel and I can remember the hiring manager referring on more than one occasion on my long unemployment record. I tried explaining about my health condition and have used my non working record with lot's of volunteering. I'm now work ready. Unfortunately the manager didn't respond to my request for constructive feedback. So my point's are as follows any organisation can talk about being a disability confident employer. But in my experience WC need to put word's into action. I told the Job centre about this negative experience. Unfortunately many organisations may have good intentions and policies around recruitment. But there's nothing stopping a particular manager from not wanting you on numerous ground's including the long term unemployed.
I would not really suggest this college to people if they asked me if they wanted to go to that college as some off the staff are very rude and not helpful if you need the help you need. And they always blame you for things that you have not done. And there well-being team is not that good
I currently study here and find it really good the tutors are nice and friendly and deal with any issues you may have. Foods good and reasonable price for students too. Throughly enjoy my days at the college each week. Can't wait to start my second year next week.
amazing airy contemporary college. staff & tutors all really helpful. brilliant location.
Very disappointed with this college. However Colin Holten deserves 5 stars thanks Colin
This college is the best it really made me feel happy especially when I was not at school the teachers there are great thay can be to woke and pc sometimes and see problems that are not there but other than that great lovely college go there young people you will not regret it .
easy to get too, has a wide range of different courses. staff are kind and overall atmosphere is great. food and drinks are quite pricey.
My latest GCSE Maths teacher rushed through lessons and skipped teaching us subjects because most of us in their words 'wouldn't be able to acheive higher than a grade 4 anyway' we told them we still wanted to learn it but they didn't care. They also told a student who was struggling that they 'didnt have time to explain again' and to teach herself at home on estudy. In some ways they were a good teacher but not in others. I think it's really rude and unprofessional to basically tell your students that it isn't worth teaching them the things they need to get the higher marks. I tried to raise my concerns about that and other matters with another member of staff, but I was not listened to and instead was just made to feel stupid. My English GCSE teacher was great and so was my previous maths teacher.
Was there for my sons's course open day. I found it to Nice and clean, and the lecturers were very knowledgeable.
