Recently on Dr advice I took my mother to the emergency room. Expecting the worse but hoping for the best, the best is what we got. From walking in to reception staff, triage staff, blood nurses, CT scan staff, Doctors and Porters my mum was treated with respect, smiles, patience, understanding and listened to. While waiting for results we were offered hot drinks etc. from beginning to end about 2 hours and 30 minutes. Walking out with good results and a happier mum. Thank you to all the staff at William Harvey.
I know this hospital has had its fair share of bad press and rightly so, some of the situations have been completely awful and heartbreaking, but I cannot fault them today and I can’t give them enough praise for how well they deal with children. My son 2 years old needed to go in for an immediate diabetes screening and it was very daunting and stressful for him, but I cannot fault any of the staff. The doctors were amazing, the nurses were so attentive and calm. They are all blessings and I am very thankful for them making something so stressful a little bit brighter. My little boy hasn’t stopped talking about his day out at the doctors nnWe were there from 12-3:30pm. Within 10 minutes of being there obs were all done, within an hour his blood tests were done and within 3 hours we had our results and could go home. His observations were checked twice while we were there.nnComparing this place to Medway in regards to paediatrics/children assessment unit they’re a whole lot better, faster and cleaner.
Our experience of this hospital this week has been shocking and appalling and if you have any other options for care for you or your loved ones then PLEASE take them! Some frontline staff really care and are doing their very best but the attitude of the senior member of staff in A&E when I raised concerns was absolutely appalling. She was totally dismissiveverging on rude and lacked ANY compassion or concern for our loved one.I appreciate services are under massive pressure but it feels it a lack of basic humanity that is the issue not a lack of resources. I was so so relieved when our loved one was transferred out of there that I cried
I rang 111 they said get to WHH for 9 pm on the sat evening!!! Lol! Arrived to a warzone. All chairs full! Stood in complete agony then got seat. Everybody around was in a mess, blood, miscarriages, infirm having drips put in etc.No privacy. Mental illness people kicking off, man playing with lighter and paper!! Very scary place . I feel very traumatised by my 14 hour agonising wait/ lock in . Seen eventually by a doc at 10 am sun morning to be told possible clot , given antibiotics and come back another day for scan!! That all happened on 8 June and still ill on 8 July! Don’t get ill!!! Nobody cared! Nobody listened! Car park fees!! Long painful drive home! AVOID!!!!
This is to say thank you to the audiology dept. at WHH. After losing one of my hearing aids they told me they would replace free of chargeit was my first loss both aids with an updated version. These came within a week and were pre - programmed for my needs. Full marks for a great service!
