Came to cash in some lottery tickets on Sunday morning. The gentleman? Who served me took ages to go through this process a young boy came in and he asked him rudely what he wanted. During my wait the phone rung he then proceeded to take the call in his own language after a while I said excuse me twice to him as I was in a hurry he completely ignored me. When he eventually finished there was no apology. I questioned him as to what was more important him serving a customer or taking a phone call his answer it was my boss I have to speak to him. I work in a customer related job where we are taught to ask the customer if they don’t mind if we take the call then explain to whoever is on the phone that we are dealing with a customer and will call them straight back. Clearly WH Smiths don’t teach there staff either customer service courtesy or good manners.
