For years Croydon Council has mismanaged and neglected Croydon borough and let it go to rack and ruin, the once vibrant Whitgift Centre is now a shadow of its former glory, totally defunct, depressing, and dismal.nThe vast majority of shops are closed down, and the premises are neglected.nCroydon County Council should be held accountable for the demise of Croydon Borough.
These older shopping centres often get an unfair press. I thought the Whitgift Centre was bright, clean and welcoming. Apart from chain stores that we all know, it was great to see independent business such as a picture framer and an old school cafe.nnIt's a spacious place that has so much potential as a pop-up and performance venue.
Probably one of the worse shopping centre I've been to in SE London.nnAbout 80% of the shops were closed down! No food court or places to eat like other shopping centre.nnWith exception of a few high street stores like M&S & WHSmith there is nothing here to shop for.nnMost of the shops are now on the high street.nnThis place has really gone down since I last visited about 10 years ago. Don't know how it still manages to survive with hardly any footfall.nnWon't be coming here again for to do my shopping anytime soon.
NEW LOOK. Rude staff member. Tried to tell me my only option for a receipt was to give them my email address. Had to remind them of statutory rights. Oh look, they could suddenly print a receipt in store on the very till I was being served on.
One star is far too much...this dilapidated, old place needs to be demolished & rebuilt.nAt present only 1 in 8-10 shops are open, so desolating...nMoreover now full of dodgy people loithering around asking for money...in a big borough like Croydon in London...shame to the council, those living in the borough deserve so much better
