We had a great stay here. The evening tasting menu was very interesting, unique courses using local produce. The wine matching worked very well. The rooms are comfortable if not overly large. Breakfast was outstanding and the service throughout was very good.
This place really surpassed all my expectations. From the road it doesn’t look like anything special, but inside it’s a different story. The service, ambiance & food are simply amazing! I loved hearing how local the food was & the menu was just wow! Such a fun evening doing the tasting menu, highly recommend to anyone.
The whole experience surpassed our expectations. We fully enjoyed it. The evening tasting menu excelled. The words on the menu did not do justice to the experience. The 5 people who variously served us took great trouble to explain the dish, discuss and answer questions. The room was really comfortable and we'll furnished. The window seat was welcoming, but for shorter people a compact chair would help. The bed was high too. The breakfast tasting menu was another delight. We left sated.
This was our 2nd visit at the Whitebrook and it did not disappoint. We went for the dinner tasting menu, overnight stay and breakfast. Such incredible value for what you get, absolute perfection from the quality of foraged/locally sourced seasonal ingredients, innovative menu and impeccable service. The most comfortable peaceful nights sleep I’ve ever had, highly recommended. Thank you so much. Parking: Lots of free parking
I recently had the opportunity of dining at The Whitebrook and very much enjoyed my experience. The food was wonderful, and the use of home-grown ingredients including a wide array of vegetables and herbs, as well as local ingredients such as fallow deer and newly arrived Monmouthshire truffles made the courses even more special. I believe the only ingredient not sourced within 20 miles was the monkfish which was also very tasty. The restaurant also offered an excellent section of natural wines and the wine pairings selected were highly complementary to the food. The interaction with Chef Harrod and Roman, the restaurant manger certainly enhanced the experience. All dishes sampled were highly seasonal and I would definitely return for a spring service.
I have mixed feelings about this place. Had a vegetarian tasting menu. On the one hand, the food was beautifully laid out and seasoned - generally very high quality food. However, their commitment to only use local and seasonal ingredients is very constraining, especially for a vegetarian menu in winter: the 6 non-dessert courses were mostly variations on "root vegetables cooked in interesting ways". Very nice, but it got rather samey. I can see what they're going for but personally I think their ethos it's too restrictive to be worth it.
Innovative tasting menu. The Orkney scallop dish was particularly noteworthy. We also stayed the night. They serve interesting variations on traditional breakfast itemsFood: 5/5
Exceptional food and service. We certainly felt that we had good value for money - highly recommended!!Food: 5/5
Outstanding food, every dish was a joy. Very reasonably priced for a Michelin star restaurant. Fantastic staff.Food: 5/5
What an incredible little find. Not only was the food superb, with such respect to the local environment, but the waiting staff and the wine pairing was another level. The room, food, wine & staff at this hidden gem are absolutely amazing. Looking forward to my next visit
