White Horse

About

A beautiful charming gem, out of the way of the hussle and bussle of the towns that surround. Delious food served daily by log fires in the winter or alfresco in the summer. Perfect for any occasion.

Story

Enjoy gluggable fine wines (thoroughly tested in house, hic!), craft ales and credible coffee – dine alfresco when the chance arises!

Despite living quite a way off, this pub is well worth the time taken to visit. Well kept beers, good selection of light bites and always made to feel welcome. The bar has a cosy feel with proper roaring open fire and the tables are well set out. The car parking is ample and you can sit outside in nice weather too. Only small point is when dining in the restaurant section it seems you get forgotten and no sweet menu is shown or checking to see if we are finished etc. So we end up leaving without a sweet or coffee. Otherwise great.

Like the proverbial curate’s egg - good in parts. We had a good welcome, and the food arrived in reasonable time. The food was good, just the pastry of the raised pie was tough. Then the service began to peter out. I reported that there was no soap in the gents, but no-one seemed in a great hurry to remedy it. We then sat for 25 minutes after finishing our main course without even having the plates cleared away. At that point we decided not to bother with a dessert, paid and left. In the plus side, the beer and cider were well kept.

The White Horse, what a great find! We found ourselves here for Sunday lunch having tried to book the Toby carvery in Hemel Hempstead. They were fully booked so we tried our luck here. We're so glad we did, the Sunday lunch that we had could not have been better. It's tasted as delicious it looked, great quality food. The service staff were pleasant and courteous which is very important to me. The atmosphere was warm and friendly and we loved the log fire. The only reason that I've given 4 rather than 5 stars is that the drinks and food ordering could have been slightly quicker, but that's a small negative and will not put us off returning or recommending to others. Thank you all

Great cheese board, they had clearly put thought into the flavours and spread. Good place to while away the hours whilst we hid from the rain. Not the cosiest of locations. More an eatery than a place to grab a pint with the regulars. But pleasant enough none the less.

A nice pub with a extensive menu of pub food. A good team of friendly staff and I've never been disappointed over numerous visits. In the main restaurant there is a nice wood fire which is fabulous in the winter months.
