Fantastic pub! We came across this when looking for somewhere dog friendly in the town. We couldn't have been happier. We were told before we were sat that food did not start for an hour but this was fine for us we arrived at 11am with 2 newborns and 2 dogs!. When we did order food we were more than pleasantly surprised. The portions were huge but the quality matched too see pictures!. Would 100% recommend to anyone visiting Bakewell. The second picture shows the size of the fish 'fingers' in the fish finger sandwich!!
Popped in for lunch as dog friendly and menu looked good. Staff were friendly and helpful but weren't very flexible with the menu options couldn't substitute chips and unfortunately didn't explain they had supply issues so one main turned up incomplete. It would have been better if they advised us of this before ordering as it would have influenced the order. Food was average and certainly not worth the price we paid. They did do some nice halloumi fries.
stopped for lunch at this restaurant pub looked super busy and had tables outside, headed in waiting to be seated unfortunately they don’t serve food outside which was a little disappointing as the weather was nice but we sat inside anyway. We ordered our food nachos, bacon and brie sandwich and halloumi fries two drinks and it came to £32 The food took a while to arrive as it was so busy but can’t fault what was served tasty and hot! Would recommend a visit here if your passing through Bakewell.
I ordered salmon and season vegetables. I ended up receiving raw leeks in big chunks, which I couldn't eat. The man at the tills asked me if everything was ok but then he completely ignored my complaint. For that price I honestly expected something else. My partner's pie was good tho.
Absolutely loved this pub. The food was superb. I had Haddock, Chips and Mushy peas and my partner and her sister had fish finger sanwiches. They weren't any old fish fingers from a box, they were hand cooked chunky pieces of fish in batter. Best food I've ever had from a pub in a long while. Plus the interior was very warming and clean.
A vibrant and busy pub. We had booked table for 4 and arrived on time. Food and drink were fine and staff pleasant. The downside was no table service and the lack of staff. Felt very sorry for them given the fact it was busy. All food and drink had to be bought and paid for at the bar, no tabs allowed. Whilst we had a small wait to be served at times the queues were 15 + with long waiting time. Would have been better with more staff who did a valiant job under the circumstances.
Called in around 11.30 we were too early for lunch. Lovely staff member advised to come back after 12 when food is been served. We popped back and the pub was a lot busier by 12.30. There was a few tables spare. We ordered Sunday lunch which was great value for money. It was a little cold inside where we were seated so we asked to move. Staff again didn’t have a problem with us moving tables. If we were in the area we would definitely pop back for food and drinks. Food was served in around 15 mins from ordering. Brilliant service thank you
The pub is nice inside, but we waited a while for someone to come to take the order. Then we waited 1h for the food to arrive. When we mentioned to a member of the staff that we have waited more than an hour, he told us that he checked the order ticket and we have waited exactly 1h and not more. The other members of the staff were great and very polite. The food was not fresh, fries tasted like old oil. We waited a lot for someone to take order for desserts also. Table booked at noon, dessert served at 2.45pm. But, we have noticed that there were only 5 people working and all tables were full, so it can’t all be blamed on the staff.
Really poor. Dry lasagne. Garlic bread was a slice of toast. Nachos were anemic. Poor beer choices. Honestly, just skip this place.
First time I have eaten there. The food was lovely and tasty, but for me staff can make the difference from having a good night to just having food and going. The staff were all very friendly and chatty, I didn't feel there was any rush to go and it was a really enjoyable night.
