Beautiful place on a dry day. No information in the grounds to tell you about the structures, bit disappointed about that. Also very unclear about where to park when you approach the Abbey. Lovely little cafe, no sign of the gift shop. Apart from that a very peaceful place.

One of the many interesting ruined structures resulting from the decision by Henry the Eighth to dissolve the monasteries and break with the Catholic Church of Rome. This particular impressive edifice gives a good insight into the obscene wealth and power enjoyed by the Abbots at the time but nowadays the grounds and gardens offer a peaceful venue for an afternoon's relaxation. Adequate car parking but the opening hours of the visitor centre/cafe seem to be a bit hit and miss though.
