Had my sons 6th party here and couldn't recommend it enough! The whole function was perfect and alot bigger than I expected. All the staff was lovely. Can't wait to book his 7th birthday here again!
Had my grandaughters communion there recently the room was decorated beautifully the DJ was exceptional for the kid's and the bar staff were really friendly and helpful
Firstly western approaches is just a pub type environment with little to no official parking. I parked just near it as street parking is free but not the safest car location. So reviewing a pub comes down to what you'd expect, atmosphere, cleanliness, food, drink and entertainment. Building isnt much to look at inside and out, on the outside its just a white block and inside is very dated and wouldnt say there was a good atmosphere. The rooms feel spatious and is all focused around 2 large rooms on either side of a central bar with smaller structural partitions dividing the room up. Music system was okay, wasnt going to win any awards but it was pleasant, the downside is it appears to be linked to both rooms so if you get a DJ on one of sides then you get the DJ music and the pub music echoing in the background. Doesn't look like they serve food. Staff were friendly and on the ball for most part, heard a couple bits of loud bickering from more senior member telling another member what to do but this just added a hint of excitement to the atmosphere. They also kept the place clean which is one of biggest points for me. Most important for me is the drink, I thought it was really well priced, for a couple of pints of cider and couple soda water and limes was about £7.20. Places I've been to recently were twice that and these drinks tasted better. I'd go again but wouldnt book it as my wedding function type event so it depends on your expectation and wants. This doesn't mean it wouldnt make a great wedding / function event location, just that it wouldn't be my choice for one.
Bosses / mangers are very rude and very rude to their own staff Yes it has been a stressful year but no need to bawl and shout at staff infront of customers and belittle them. She made a simple mistake and forgot to add a extra drink on the tray to serve the customer ... poor girl was nearly in tears.
An 'interesting ' pub, it was closed for a few months earlier this year after a man entered carrying a shot gun and confronted a customer. Inside it's huge, when I visited in one bar the locals were watching Everton and in the other bar they were watching Liverpool, the hostility was disturbing. I don't think I'll be rushing back! But the beer wasn't bad.
Used to be a rough joint, it's been remodeled and painted. I purchased a glass of wine that had been opened who knows when and it was straight vinegar. The bartender opened a new bottle for me.
First time ive been here..comfortable pub! Was attending a funeral staff really pleasant and the chef worked really hard..nice chicken curry ribs etc ..Well Done
Was quite impressed with the Western. Not been to the pub for a long time. At a party. Most enjoyable.
