Went with a big group, happy to spend a lot of money with them. Waited an hour for our food, every dish was either undercooked or flavourless. The menu is pretty basic. Told the chef hadnt been able to come in. We're told we couldn't have cocktails as there was only one bartender. They ended up discounting the bill after we didn't eat the food, but not before the kitchen manager was incredibly rude. It ruined what was supposed to be a special night. Would never go back.
Although the place is really nice, warm and comfy, the food is unexpectedly bad and the service basic. It took more than an hour for the starters to come, and even longer for the mains. We were a group of six and noone enjoyed their food. The burgers were poorly cooked, burned or uncooked and I thought mine smelled too bad. They offered to bring desserts on the house but we were too disappointed and tired to try anything else. Too expensive on top of everything!
Frankly I am really sad! West36 was my most favourite place in town - we were there every weekend for brunches and dinners, brought so many friends with us. We haven't been for a long time. It just went a downward spiral - bad experience on events, slow service, disappointments, food quality went downhill - I remember having the best Sunday roast....I am genuinely sad. Same thing with BBB in NH. When the kitchen quality doesn't match with good service there really is a need for a major change. I hope the owner tries to turn it around as the potential, the vibe and the ambience is there!
Pathetically slow service, table booked for 9.30 main course arrived in parts at 11.15. Ordered some chicken and was told half an hour later it had finished, so replaced that choice with another. 40 minutes later the chicken turns up?!. Remainder of main courses turn up later but had to be sent back since they were cold. This place is beyond a joke. With so many restaurants about I won't be choosing this one again. Subsequent investigation revealed that my issues are not unique. Complaints like this have been made since last year and these issues have not been addressed... Speaks volumes for the abysmal management and poor organisation. I would say the food tastes pretty good but it did not compensate for the inability to provide food in a timely manner. The duty manager did compensate our party by reducing the bill which was the least he could do. Overall a real shame.
Celebrated a friend's birthday on the first hot, sunny weekend of the season. We had the upstairs covered terrace to ourselves. Shame it's overlooking the railway, but plenty of sunlight during the afternoon. Sharing food platters were delicious, especially the veg, steaks and bone marrow gravy. Staff were attentive and lovely. Otherwise the place was fairly quiet for a Saturday, perhaps things have changed since all the bad reviews.
Horrible experience. The cocktails were served in wine glasses and were the worst cocktails I've tasted. We were then told by the manager that "all the margarita glasses broke the night before". Lol. WOW The chips I ordered were refried. You can always tell when chips are freshly done. Our orders took an hour to arrive. The staff were quite nice and very apologetic including Valentino the manager. We did not have to pay for anything however we left feeling very dissatisfied!!
I had originally heard good things about this place when it first opened, but having eaten there for dinner on Saturday night I definitely would not go back in a hurry. The food itself was fine, but the service was chaotic, they were missing two of the main courses at 8.30pm, the soft drinks were from a pump and tasted like it and when we asked for the dessert menu after waiting for 10 minutes we were told there wasn't one.....and instead got a verbal list of them all. Seems like the management there is all a bit clueless - and to top it off our meal cost £170 for 4 people with no alcohol! Think the venue has great potential but as an over all experience it was very disappointing.
Very disappointing service. They once cancelled a birthday party the day it was planned with an email at 6.30pm ! AFTER confirming the menu days before AND DESPITE they have a no show cancellation policy. We showed up exactly on time just to discover our table was gone. In another occasion, despite the empty restaurant we have incredibly slow service many dished in the menu not available anymore, and, as it often happens, not all credit cards accepted. Not worth it.
The food was pretty good brunch menu is limited but the service was poor and unprofessional. Every time we needed something we would need to get up and ask them to come to get the order. Also, at some point in the late afternoon the kitchen closed and they had absolutely nothing to serve until it re opened.
Potential but always falls flat. Very very flat. For somewhere with the 'vibe' they put out and a kitchen of that size, you'd expect at least a base level of friendly service and a menu that offers more than 3-4 dishes with sides. Prices are therefore extortionate. Wouldn't recommend for brunch or anything else. Cocktails are great and the night vibe is really fun.
